That part sucks ass literally.

Holy cow, it did. Your tip was the only way I could beat that part.

Now I'm stuck on the run-up to Pandora's Box.

I finished the first one and I'm playing the second one now. I should be caught up by the time the third one is released next week.

I remember reading this before starting up GOWII, but I still wound up failing for the exact same reason. I also came to a part with growing plants that I had to look up on an FAQ because for the life of me, I didn't see the button on the ground.

Otherwise, finished GOWII in a few days last week so I can finally go on to III...

One of my most annoying memories from any game EVER. The way I remember it, it wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't made you watch that whole scene over and over. Ack!

I just finished GoWII for the first time this weekend. I was blown away by the first level (much like the PA strip above) so I was hooked right away. On top of that the game & cut scenes looked astounding. I was also surprised that it took me about 14 hours to finish as I was expecting about 8, so it was wearing thin being that long.

Overall a great experience but for fucks sake the person that decided on QTE's should be drawn and quartered, timed to button presses of course. Throughout most of the game they weren't so bad. I probably fucked up on the rotating thumbstick ones every time and I also screwed up quite a few because I'm more used to the X button on the 360 being in a different spot.

All those were peanuts though compared to the Zeus QTE. Like Chew, IIRC, I had him on the first try but missed the "O" mashing button in the bottom corner. I was literally dumbfounded and even missed it the second time through as well. Of course once I realized I should be mashing "O" I started fucking up other button presses instead. Watching that cut scene over and over a dozen times was painful.

QTE's aside the fixed camera was a complete nuisance. I think I died more times because of the camera than because of battles. I'd be blindly jumping off ledges trying to find treasure chests in areas I thought they would be. I guess it paid off though since I got both the Gorgon Eyes and Feather trophies. Only managed to find a couple Urns though. Still a beyond-poor design choice even if it means a prettier game. I would have preferred a lower graphical fidelity if it meant I get a functional camera system.

Overall a great but ultimately flawed game.

One thing I think they fixed in III is that the QTEs are now in the corner of the screen where the corresponding button is on the controller. So Triangle is on the top of the screen, X is on the bottom, etc. Probably a pain for those with large tvs, but seems a bit more intuitive.

Confirmed...since you don't know where to focus...but still better overall.

I got tired of screwing up that last battle on GOW2 and finally beat it by rapidly pushing start button until the next symbol came up. That did the trick.

The best thing they changed in GOW3 was putting the symbols on the screen in the place they are on the keyboard. So so so much more enjoyable for me now. All 3 are great games.

I hate you, room in God of War I where you've got 60 seconds to defeat a bunch of sirens and shield warriors and then the floor drops out, killing you instantly.

Yea, I remember playing that part. Make you whatever have at the time is maxed out, and just keep whacking at it. You'll eventually get it.

That's part of the Atlas challenge in The Temple of Pandora, right?

Just spam the square, square, triangle combo (Plume of Prometheus, I believe). I think you have to do that to get rid of the shields anyway. Also Poseidon's Rage is handy, especially if it's maxed out and you can keep it going by tapping circle.
