Why does Naughty Dog get credit for the generic male character?

I saw this on another forum.

I'm not talking generic in general, I'm specifically referring to the fact that the MC looks like Nathan's brother, who also must be related to the MC in Assassin's Creed.

C4 and B5 in your chart look identical. Is there a name/game breakdown for the chart?

A: Nathan Hale, Naked Snake, Nathan Drake, Chris Redfield, Alpha Protocol guy.
B: Gabe Logan, Heavy Rain guy, Sam Fisher, Shepperd, The Apprentice.
C: Infamous guy, Silent Hill 5 guy, Killzone 2 guy, Shadow Complex guy, Max Payne
D: Alan Wake, Red Faction guy, Wolfenstein guy, Niko Bellic, Dead Rising guy.
I think this was the most completed guess.

It's not just looks. Nobody would confuse Jason here with Nico from GTA IV or the Apprentice from Force Unleashed. This is an identical looking, idententically dressed guy who explores similar enviornments while trying to rescue a girl(friend) and while making very similar wisecracks in exactly the same voice. There are many moments that I'm having Drake flashbacks in this game.

I know. I have to stop and check myself here. We're talking about cut scenes and voice acting in a fucking XBLA game!

Speaking as someone who does not own a PS3 ... who is this "Nathan Drake" everyone keeps talking about?

And like I said elsewhere, this game should be a gamechanger for XBLA and PSN. At least, I hope it is.

From a consumer persepective I do worry it sets the bar too high almost though. As in the fact that it'll be used for people to look at and say "This game isn't worth $15! That's what I paid for Shadow Complex!". Honestly I would've paid double or more for SC and felt I got my money's worth even thus far. (Although I probably would've also been a bit more vocal about the issues/glitches that are present throughout.)

As for game makers, yeah, this is definitely a milestone.

Sometimes the industry needs a kick in the jimmy to make it evolve and adapt. The iPhone did that for mobile devices and hopefully shadow complex will do it for XBLA. Can you believe it's the same team that did Undertow though??

The best $15 I've spent in a long time! This game may be my favorite XBLA title yet.

No kidding. If this were a Wii game, it wouldn't look as good, control as well and it would be $50.

What is that? Some sort of Tomb Raider DLC?

I kid -- I know about the Uncharted series. In fact, it's the strongest argument in the "Pro" column of my "Should I buy a PS3?" list of pros and cons. But since I've never actually played it, as far as I'm concerned, Jason Fleming is a novel and unique protagonist.

Well, not counting the other 18 look-alikes on the chart Pixy posted.

I'll also add that if the worst criticism of a game is that the protagonist is too similar to the protagonist of another (critically-acclaimed) game for another platofrm, you're doing alright.

Re: The Official Shadow Complex Thread of "Until Metroid Dread is Released"

360voice.com shows it hit 8000 players yesterday. Biggest first day sale we've seen in a long time. Slightly better than Battlefield 1943 and almost 2000 more than Castle Crahsers last year. Still, I expcected it to be higher.

Just an objective statement that what we got was good, and that it could've been much worse.

Why so touchy?

Not touchy - just making sure. And since i've been accused of favortism towards one console over another I figured I'd go apeshit on anything i notice!!!
