If there's anyone from the XBox faction that wants to organize the league, let me know so I can list you as league leader/organizer.

Re: NHL 2010 - The Official Thread of First Person Facebreaking
I kicked ass in this game...when it was on the Sega Genesis.
I've passed the torch on the EA's NHL franchise to my 16 y/o son, this is his absolute favorite game series. I played the demo last night. It gives you the 3rd period in game 7 of the stanley cup. I played as Detroit and it started me in the 3rd down by 2 goals. I scored fairly quickly on a really pretty goal but then got shut down and lost by 2. My son played after me and they put him up 4-0, so the score seems random.
The passing is more realistic and obviously tougher than last year. The hitting was good and the new board features were pretty realistic. I went 1-1 in first person fights during the tutorial. When I tried to goad a penguin into a fight during the game they all skated away like the bunch of p*ssies they are! (I kid, I kid! Not really). My biggest complaint with the demo was that you couldn't adjust the speed. I always played NHL with the speed nearly all the way up. I expect you'll be able to turn it up in the full release, as always.
There's also a Be A Pro mode demo, but I didn't do that. My son liked it and said something about being shown where you were drafted. The highest he made was second round. I guess previous versions didn't include this? I don't know. He showed me Be A Pro last year and I couldn't think to play a game where I'm sitting on the bench waiting for my turn. He'd multitask and go IM with his friends for a minute before jumping back on the ice for his shift. Not my thing. I did that in real life, I'm not going to pay $60 to do it again.
All in all, it was pretty good. I haven't played a full season in an NHL game in years, but I may give it a go.

Be A Pro mode is going to play a lot nicer and more fun this year. I've been a little bit obsessed with trying to get my BAP player to be the top pick in the draft on this demo.
This is going to be phenomenal and any issues I've noticed in playing it will be able to be cleared up with sliders.
This is going to be great.

Played it last night, both the SCF and the BAP and both were great. Loving the new features, especially playing on the Hardcore mode which sets the settings to more realistic. Even passing the puck was very tough, but I like it a lot better rather than just hitting a button and sticks to your player like glue. I really enjoyed the board play, scored a nice goal as a result of it.
I was in the offensive zone and was pinned up against the half boards where I seen one of my players coming down the wing for support. Kicked the puck out to him and one timed a perfect shot. Looked real sharp on the replay.
Scored a nice PS goal by faking the shot and lifting up my back foot (ala crosby), goalie commited and roofed a nice backhand.
Another cool thing that the computer did was bat the puck out of the air after the goalie made a save and the puck bounced up high in the crease.
Can't wait for the full release.

Musick, you want to join the PS3 league? Which I think will actually just become the DVDTalk PS3 Hockey Club? There just aren't enough people for a full blown league. I'll just set up a hockey club for online play with the DVDTalk PS3 guys and a few friends of mine.

Picked this up for the PS3 today at lunch. Anybody else get it? I probably won't get to play until this weekend but add me to your friends list if you want to get online.

Waiting on my Amazon order... waiting... waiting... It's a good thing I'm home with the kid today. Well, I thought it was a good thing, but since it hasn't show up yet, I'm finishing up some Batman.
I'll send Club invites to any PS3 players when it arrives.

Got it today. So far so good although you really cant see any difference from 09 cept for the few gameplay changes.Havent seen any of the framerate issues though so far that 09 had although i read in a review theyre still there.
Started with Be a Pro and played like crap in the prospects game which worked out ok since i ended up getting drafted by the Penguins.Scored a goal and assisted on two in a 7-2 win over the Rangers in my 1st game

This game is tough to get used to for me - my first hockey game since NHL '05.
Many more controls to master.
I'm sure I will get better as hockey season heats up.

Played a couple Be a Pro games last night, it was pretty fun actually. I skipped over 09, so this was a nice upgrade from 08. Sitting in the penalty box though hits a little close to home

I guess I need to restart my "Be A Pro" career since for some stupid reason you can't change what you want the announcers to call you once you start a career. Stupid. Luckily I've only played one game so far.

My big question is...How in the Hell do you win a face-off? I looked through the book and didn't see faceoffs mentioned. I'm only winning one here & there but I try so many different things that I'm not sure what works, lol.
