Still have your first Xbox 360?

Yes, it's sitting in a box in front of my TV!
Got it in the Mountain Dew promotion (so it was a launch unit), and it held up until March(ish) of this year, when it kicked the bucket. Based on the fact that it was free, and that it lasted 5x longer than most peoples', I have no real complaints.

Not saying anything that we don't already know, but my God, what a huge failure rate. I doubt there's ever been such a high failure rate in any other major consumer electronic. It seems like none of the first year models are still functioning a mere 3-4 years later. I hope they get a class-action lawsuit on behalf of those who are denied a RROD repair after three years. They'd lose in court.

I still have my launch 360. Never had to get it repaired. I upgraded to an Elite so now my OG 360 is in the bedroom primarily being used to stream video/music from my PC.

Anyone with an Elite ever had it red-ring? I had an original, and it failed on me after 2 years of relatively light use. I upgraded to an Elite, but even so, I play with a slight tinge of fear at the back of my mind.

Got the Premium just before the first Gears of War came out, got the E74 error a year later.
Sent that unit in, then it worked for about 6 months and got the same error again.
The console was out of warranty so bought an Elite and have had no problems yet (knock wood).

I had a launch unit die on me after one year. So I sold it for parts since it wasn't under warranty (that was before they extended it to 3 years)
Bought an Elite, it died less than a year later. Sent it in and got a new one. That one died less than a year later. Sent that one in and got a new one. Now this one is acting up. Hopefully the next Elite I get will be a Jasper.

With the reliablity of the PS3, and the cool exclusives it has, I dunno why you guys go through 3 or 4 360s.
I would've been done with the fucking thing by the second one.

That is what happened to my replaced console from 2007. It was covered under the three year "red-ring" warranty so I pay nothing for a replacement or repair.

Flores makes it sound like there is no exclusives for the 360, and I have never thought to myself I wish I bought a ps3 instead . And if you look at my previous post I was all up on the psone and ps2 and have owned every version of those.

Yeah, but what about the many, many console-bricking errors that are not covered by the RRoD 3 year warranty?. Get one outside the regular one year warranty period and you're screwed.

I sure know there are. I just don't think there is an exclusive that makes it worth for me dealing with a faulty console over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.
That's called Masochism.
Hey, if you like to know all of the 360 motherboards by it's first name, or don't care about the way the guy at the UPS store secretly laughs at you every time you bring a coffin to ship. more power to you.

I'm still on my 1st one that I got in December 2006. Paid $299 for it back then. The only thing I had to replace with the original 10 GB hard drive which was defective with a 20 GB which I'm still using.
Haven't had any major glitches or problems.

X360 controller is the best in the business.
Better exclusives.
More online friends to play with.
...etc
My PS3 works fine, but in comparison, the 360 gets around 50-60 hours of game use a week (at least), and my PS3 has had 2 hours of gameplay total, and I watch 1-3 BluRays/week. I definitely get some use out of my 360, maybe too much, so I'm kinda surprised it lasts as long as it does, lol.

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
The dualshock is an award winning design, and at least for me, it's better than the 360's one
Better exclusives? Most of the 360 exclusives I don't even have to own a 360 to play them, as I can play them on my PC.
And again, it's all a matter of personal taste.
This is my last post on this subject, as I don't want to be responsible of yet another 20 page PS3 vs 360 thread.
BTW, love your MTG avatar!

I had a launch system, and sold it. I then bought one in August of 2006, and that lasted a year before it red ringed. Microsoft sent me a new one, and that lasted about 6 months before it red ringed.
I then bought a brand new 60gb system, and still have to send the old one to Microsoft to fix so I can sell it on eBay.
