ya burnout, but you might pick up pgr3 or 4 too since they're cheaper than dirt if you want more of a race feel. burnout way easy fun and arcade like. pgr is just fun if you like cars and racing it isn't hardcore sim but isn't super arcade either.

That's one thing I've never liked about Burnout. The jumps in that game are one of the more realistic things it does. I never feel like you really take off. I like the cheap jumps in games like Beetle Adventure Racing, Pure, or SSX. I know those all aren't car racing games, but just the height you get in those -- I wish that was in Burnout. Otherwise, Burnout is the tops. They still have the best sense of speed ever put in a video game.

I don't know...BP has some pretty crazy jumps...and the jump physics feel just right to me for an arcadey racer.
I also rarely do races in BP, and I don't think I've ever done one online. I mostly just do freeburn challenges and tool around.

I was speaking in regards to "best sense of speed" in a racing game. I'd put the Excite games up there with Burnout.

My jumps comment was directed at the post above yours...though come to think of it, Excite Truck had some crazy jumps too!

Re: Racing game recommendations
Has anyone tried Initial D or Wangan Midnight on the PS3? Initial D looks like it could be solid in unspectacular; I always liked the Tokyo Extreme series on the Dreamcast, so Wangan has potential, but I'm reading some negative things about it and the language barrier sounds like it could be problematic.
I've been looking for a fun, arcadey racing game besides Ridge Racer 7 (which I already have) and not Burnout Paradise (which I don't care for versus the previous games in the series). I downloaded every available racing game demo on PSN the other day and didn't think much of any of them except GTI Club, and I wanted to get some other opinions before buying anything. I wish Outrun was on PSN and not just the 360.
