Blah. I tried 5 times throughout today and lost each time. Fortunately they were all salvaged caps from the recycle bins at work. Actually, we have little recycling buckets just for bottle caps separate from the bottles - score! I guess I'll try again early tomorrow. Also, I'm gonna wait on this week's DLC and hope that:

A) the songs get added, and
B) I can actually get a few winning codes

Besides, I kinda want to spend some time playing more of the DLC I already own.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I think the last major update was 7/2. The contest started on 6/2, so the theory is that the next big update will be on 8/2. A few tracks have trickled in here and there, but I don't think they've really been adding significant amounts of tracks on a regular basis.

Actually, the updates have been on 6/30, 7/7, and 7/21. They occur on Tuesdays. Who knows if they will add songs later today.

7/2 was the big update (32 tracks), the green day tracks were added 7/7 and 5 more tracks 7/21. Check out pinata's spreadsheet in the first post.

8/2 is a Sunday so we'll see if anything gets added. I'm not all that excited about the promotion anymore since the win% has taken a nose dive. I'm just happy I didn't just start getting the tracks alphabetically when I assumed I was going to eventually get them all, and got them in order of preference instead.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I'm still sitting on like 23 winners that I haven't selected yet. I'm hoping for some more good songs to come down the pike. If not, I'll start selecting songs I sort of like and take the rest as Wiiware points for my DSi.
Sort of like the old days of 'Wheel of Fortune' where the winner of each round had to keep buying crappier and crappier stuff with his winnings until he had purchased the ceramic dog, ran out of stuff to get and then takes the rest as a Service Merchandise Gift Certificate.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

heh heh I did the same with trying to win a bundle. Tried twice and lost. Also put a point in for a trip to Harrah's.

When I posted earlier that I put in 11 and lost 4 times, they actually only credited me with 6 and said that 5 were losers. This is just messed up. I'm just going to store up any new codes I get until they work out their bugs. I still have 21 tracks in the bag that I might just convert over to wii points, whatever that is. There aren't any more "must get" tracks for me.

I actually did the Wii points thing last week. Picked up Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World and Super Metroid.

0 for 4 this morning. I have 5 more codes which I'll sit on just in case. But I'm glad I can go back to Dr. Pepper.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

It's certainly possible that they weren't doing 5,000/day for 104 days like they said, but rather 520,000 tracks.

We may have reached that threshold over a month early.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

My guess is that someone figured how out to game the system, or its broken.

Its only 11:00 AM EST. Did they really give out 5000 codes already?

Also in the RB forums someone got a reply from YoungAmerica stating that they needed a screenshot of the winning screens in order to verify.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

A screenshot? Those screens don't say what code was used, so one screenshot should work for the entire internet

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I would assume they wouldn't give out 5000 to first 5000. If smart they would create some sort of algorithm based on the amount of previous entries. So maybe for the past month, only 4000 caps are being entered every day. Now that number is increasing to 5,6,7000, and we are seeing more losers balanced throughout the day.

either that, or they realized there was a bug, and now we're all losers.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

No way to know. If people are still winning, then we can be assured they aren't just out of 520,000 tracks.

If no one is winning then I think the pool has run dry.

I, for one, am glad that it was guaranteed for so long.

You can read it however you want. But it reads like they imposed a cap on the number of tracks to give away.

If they gave away 520,000 over the first 52 days and 0 over other last 52, it still averages out to 5,000/day.

There's no legal recourse there.

Now, if people are still winning they they fixed the glitch and the results we're getting is what we should have been the whole time. And they'll blow their expected 520,000 away. That isn't fair to them and you can be assured this promotion won't happen next summer.

Which is a problem for them. I should not be reading something different from you. If its not literally stated then they could be libel.

It literally says 5000 per day for 104 days. Nothing at all about a maximum number of 520,000 total DLC. Show me anywhere that is stated and you got me. Otherwise we could sue them.

It doesn't say that. Its says they are to give away 5000 per day. Which means they legally have to give 5000 codes per day away for 104 days as written in the disclaimer.

I'm thinking now that its more of what redbill posted. More people are playing decreasing your odds of a winner. It was only last week I actually saw these caps in my area, and others had them for several weeks already. Now that the entire nation is covered the odds could be dropping.

But there is a technical issue when the screen tells you you win, and then when you check your account you are a loser. That is a real issue unrelated to the shifting odds of winning thing.

5,000/day is an average. That's what "per" means.

You go ahead and open a class action lawsuit if you'd like.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Anyway, having watched the charts for this week's songs, I'm reminded why I stopped listening to Blink after Enema of the State. Down and Feeling This got dropped from my want list, but I'll still get The Rock Show.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I went 2 for 2 on the caps this morning, bringing me to 74 without a loss. This is the first time I haven't immediately redeemed the winners for songs. I'd categorized about 150 songs into three tiers and had worked my way through the first two. If there's a chance the promotion's drying up, I'm going to save any winners and see what gets added later.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

There will be up to 5,000 daily prizes awarded each day of the Promotion Period. If, for whatever reason, there are not 24 hourly prize winners or 5,000 daily prize winners in any given day, the remaining prizes not awarded that day will be accumulated during the Promotion Period and will be added to the daily prize pool on September 13, 2009.
