I'm half-tempted to start emailing some of the smaller bands that I like and tell them "hey get your shit into RBN". With people like Rhythm Authors around, it could make things really easy for these bands to have a brand new revenue stream with very effort on the bands part involved.

There's another dozen or so bands I'd probably buy songs from as well.

That's something that I'm actually a bit worried about: labels/bands flooding RBN (and potentially the RB store) with entire catalogs of material. Not that I wouldn't want lots of material from high-caliber artists, but it would start to add up pretty quick.

Just all the talk today about "rights" concerns and "flooding" and quality.

Kiewer said Sub Pop is looking at converting its entire catalog
AAAAAAAAAAHHH! Velocity Girl in Rock Band! I'm very, very, very happy about this.

I finally cracked HMX's algorithm for mystery setlist generation:

Song = "Let there be Rock.*"

I've noticed that as well.

I'm down for an Austin DVDTalk RB get together.

I've only got a 52" TV. We all have to huddle around it so that we can see the tiny notes :( ;)

I really think we should do this some time.

I enjoy Rock Band a great deal.

If Sub Pop does indeed manage to get their entire catalog converted, I would break my "Rock Band" embargo to play songs by Loney, Dear.

My friend is at Comic Con right now and told me he played Lego Rock Band. He played The Final Countdown on drums and I Want You Back on bass. And that I Want You Back is really fun.

I love The Postal Service, but I just can't see most of their tracks converting well to RB.

Is there any reason at all to think that RBN will support discounted packs/albums? I imagine it's going to be single-palooza in there and that might hurt them a little bit.

Would make more sense for bands and labels to focus on their popular singles as opposed to trying to get everything out. Get the money-makers out first and then follow with the rest for the hardcore fans.

The smartest thing to do would be freebies, freebies, freebies. Each band needs to give away at least one song. People will download anything that's free. That way, people get to sample the stuff, and will be tempted to download more.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I wonder if that'll even be an option on RBN.

That's not true. Show of hands anyone that has skipped any of the free songs? Between the free 20 and Miranda Cosgrove, I'm sure there's plenty of free stuff that hasn't been downloaded by everyone.

Not me, though, I have it all :D

I thought it was, but I was wrong.

Well last time he clarified it was specifically for Comic Con goers, so I would assume he means as codes.

Does your Lego RB demo have a specific time or is it just a pass for whenever you're around?

Also if you get some extra codes there, remember who tipped you off about the Lego passes *nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink*

Uh...I had already done the Twitter thing before I even saw you post it here. I follow them too you know! (And more importantly don't work at my job. )

Not sure what the pass does really except get you a shirt for playing the game. There is a regular line of people waiting to play but they don't get anything for doing it. Here's the passes we got:

I'm not sure if this is a line jump thing or if it just denotes us as people that get a shirt for doing it. (And the shirts are f'ing awesome BTW.) We'll have at least one extra that I'll most likely be using as a prize on an upcoming podcast.

I think if he gets extra codes he should remember some of his loyal longtime podcast listeners. ;)

Just got the newest Rock Band Zine... Was hoping for some big announcement, but alas it was just about the RBN...
