Re: The Official DJ Hero Thread of BPMs, Faders and Scratches
My interest is zero. I would actually like to play it and I'm sure it would be fun but I have a great deal of reservations in giving one more dime to this guy ... Mr Kotick and his mode of operations.
So here is why we have 15 GH games a year. Screw what the market will actually tolerate. Run the thing into the ground until its worthless. If Bobby thinks that GH will be around 10 years from now he's sadly mistaken.
Its people who think like this that put us in the economic situation we are currently in.
Kotick responded not by addressing any of the games by name, but by talking about Activision’s publishing philosophy. The games Activision Blizzard didn't pick up, he said, "don't have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million franchises. … I think, generally, our strategy has been to focus… on the products that have those attributes and characteristics, the products that we know [that] if we release them today, we'll be working on them 10 years from now."
He points to the newly acquired business acumen of people in his company. "You have studio heads who five years ago didn't know the difference between a balance sheet and a bed sheet who are now arguing allocations in our CFO's office pretty regularly," he stated. Of course, that may be due to the fact that his incentive program "rewards profit and nothing else."
He continued with that message: money, money, money. "We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games."
"We are very good at keeping people focused on the deep depression," he stated.

I played a few tracks last month and was sold...and had very little interest prior to that. I plopped down $80 on the Renegade Edition to get the sweet carrying case/table so I don't have to play with the turn table on my lap. Should be a fun few days when it comes out.

Lately they've been hitting mid-80's, but no idea if that'll continue to by typical.
This is an entirely new market with plenty of untapped songs.

Damn...
Wale, Kid Cudi, Masta Ace, Jay-Z, 2Pac...this might sway me.
I need to see it first.
I 'd at the name change from Masta Ace's song 'Jeep Ass Nugga' to 'Jeep Ass Gutter'.

I've definitely decided I'm jumping in, but it does concern me without getting to try it out beforehand. The only problem with games like this. I LOVE the genre and I LOVE the concept, but if it doesn't work right, or the equipment is shoddy, it can be a colossal waste of money. I'm hoping for the best though.....

Feedback from people who are into DJ culture seems to be very positive so far. I am anxiously awaiting the 27th!

So whatever happened to the rival game "Scratch?"
And what is the difference from the regular edition and the "renegade" edition of DJ Hero?

My roommate actually played it at some Game Crazy conference in Nevada, and he said it was awesome.
I'm hoping he'll get it, so I don't have to.
One cool thing about it is that you can plug a mic in and freestyle over the whole thing if you want to. That will be major fun at parties.

Also, there's an Armin van Buuren (who I'll be seeing live next week) game supposedly coming out for the Wii only.
The Renegade Edition comes with a special edition black controller and a special carrying case that converts into a stand for the controller and it comes with a two CDs of unreleased (?) Jay-Z and Eminem music.
