Video Game Talk's Video Game Cliché Game

Alright. Here's how you play. Name a game cliché.

The next person then names three different games where this occurs. You can't name two games in the same series or a remake of the same game. If you're stuck at one or two, name them so someone can finish. That person can then select the next cliché.

I'll start off with a very easy one:

In an RPG, one of the first enemies you face is a rat.

Oblivion, Bard's Tale, Fable 2.

The hero had his parents killed at a young age.

I think Decker stumped everyone.

Batman Begins?? does that count?

Think the heroes parents died in the original Fable

Wouldn't technically ANY video game based on "the big three of comics*" count?

* = Batman (murdered), Superman (Krypton exploded), Spider-man (killed on a mission working as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents when he was an infant)

All three had their parents die at a young age.....
I'm thinking the original intent was to leave out licensed titles & characters however....

3 different games The Bus? WTF?

Re: Video Game Talk's Video Game Cliché Game

Tales of Symphonia, Mass Effect (one of Captain Shepards background options anyway), FFVIII? (maybe, I don't remember the story so well)

Next, easy one. Despite being too young to buy a beer, and not having any obvious genetic enhancements, the onus is on you to save the world.

Think of it as a co-op game. :)

Grandia, Zelda, and drawing a blank.

I decided to count it but otherwise you could include Bandit03's suggestion of Fable which counts.

Fallout 3
Zelda
FFVIII

can you use ones that were mentioned above already??

If so, this one should be really easy.

Starting out the game really stacked with powers etc only to lose them almost right away.

Super Metroid
God of War 2
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

You're an amnesiac.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

I imagine one of the Leisure Suit Larry games would work too.

Remember, once someone names one (or two), you only need to name enough to complete the three. And it's OK to repeat answers/series, just not for the same question.

Yeah, that's one of the three I was thinking of (as was the GTA series).

Zelda II (I imagine)

You must battle your former mentor as enemies (i.e. not sparring/training).

I almost said GoW, but do you actually get health from it? I thought it was just a little mini quicktime event.

I remember red orbs all over the bed when Kratos finished.........least I hope they were red health orbs.

Re: Video Game Talk's Video Game Cliché Game

I think in GoW you get "experience" orbs. Whatever those are called that allows you to upgrade your weapons.

I don't recall their being health or magic orbs there.

Anybody have a problem with Zelda II?

Zelda II was clearly non-sexual! :)

Then what would that hot chick to do you behind closed doors that restored your health? Have a spot of tea? I don't think so ;)
