I played the crap out of the original BF1942 demo, set on Wake Island. And I loved the full game when it came out, played and officered in a clan, played on "sniper only" servers, could routinely shoot Zeros out of the sky with my trusty Sherman and my rocket launcher. Never got much into the expansions or the newer ones though. Something about the way the first one played just clicked with me, and this looks like a return to form. I'll definitely be picking it up.

When the first trailer for Battlefield 1943 released, we were instantly pumped for the game. Multiplayer shooters are fun, but DICE made the right call by including tons of explosions and dudes getting shot in the face in the game's debut trailer. Now, we're happy to report that the game will arrive on XBLA and PSN (1200/$15) sometime this June (PC gamers get it in September).
Battlefield 1943 features three different tropical locales: Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima, and gamers can play as either the US Marines or Imperial Japanese Navy in matches supporting up to 24 players.

That's the price I was hoping for, I will definitely be picking this one up. BF1942 is one of my all time favorite shooters and Bad Company is still my most played online shooter, so both of those combined should be an instant win

I'm 99% sure it's a standalone XBLA game.

1943 is limited to Battlefield's now classic Conquest Mode, where teams must capture all the flagged territories around the map.

It's the best game mode and it's cheap.

I just disagree. $15 for one game mode and 3 maps is not a good value. COD's and Halo's have a TON of game modes and maps and are only about $15 more expensive while being physical media. B43 will always be a $15 game unless on a weekly sale.

I think everyone will agree that the COD's and Halo's are an exceptional value.
But as long as this is a well made game, I can easily get 10+ hours of play on 1 gamemode and 3 maps. I played the Bad Company beta for 15-20 hours. That was limited to 1 mode and 2-3 maps. So I don't have any problem spending $15 for that much enjoyment.

Exactly. I'll happily pay $20+ for an evening at the movies, or pick up a DVD or Blu-Ray. So if I play more than 3 hours (and I would if the game plays well) then I've got my money's worth.
