Reviews Up!

Teamxbox has a review up...gave it a solid 9. They also gave a eta of at least 20hrs in single player mode.

http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360...-Guerrilla/p1/

IGN has one up here...gave it a 8.0

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

Works for me. I like to see the score, but I'm going to avoid the reviews until I can get my own impressions. I was already going to buy it based on the fun I had in the demo and the limited taste of the multiplayer we got, but this will seal the deal. Looking forward to it next week!

Even with two big demos out I think that this game is going to sneak up on a lot of folks. (Much like Dead Space. Maybe even bigger with the multiplayer component.) We shall see.

I can't wait to attach one of those sticky satchel bombs to JustinRT (if he gets this game).

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

Got the game and have been playing it for 3 hours straight (totally lost track of time until I got a phone call) - that hasn't happened in a very long time, but this game is a fucking blast (pun intended), and as addictive as any mission-based sandbox game can be.

FWIW, I'm enjoying Red Faction much more than inFamous, which I do enjoy, just not as much as this.

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

Preordered today. Can't wait. After the amazing fun that was SR2 - and the single player demo (don't care about MP) - really looking forward to this one. Also sounds like the teamxbox reviewer played the same SR2 as me - all side missions fun except for a few headaches - escort missions - or that ridiculous insurance fraud.

It would be nice if there were a few more graphical environments - maybe a large dome with some green inside - but I think I'll survive. For green, I can just pop Mercs 2 back in.

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

Whoa! This game is huge! I just opened up the world a bit more and there is much to do - almost too much - and all of it fun. And don't worry, it's not all dreary landscapes. The missions are all so varied to, with different methods of attack available for everything. The fire-fights are fun too, with a simple but effective cover mechanism. The AI's not too bad either, usually taking cover too, but sometimes they are dumb. The game can be tough though - I've died a lot - but it's never inconvenient, since the missions are so quick, when you start them over, you're hardly backtracking at all. So while kinda difficult in spots, it's not too frustrating. But then I charge head-long into shit. If you build up some guerrilla fighters and have a method of attack, you can take down locations without too much trouble from resistance. Can't wait to get back to playing - game of the year so far for me!

How are the load times? One review mentioned some really long ones - which might make sense for the PS3 version, but the 360 is generally better.

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

I've played both the single player and MP demos and came away impressed with both. The one thing with the MP that has me concerned is the amount of action constantly going on affects the conection. It was every other game where lag, freeze up, "teleporting" was happening. Don't know if it was servers or just the demo?

I'll be picking this up Tuesday and can't wait both MP modes. There's just so many options and combo using the various "back-packs" and weapons.

Sorry Justin but it sounds like..."tag, you're it......"

Except for the initial loading when you start a game (which is within reason), there are no load times - the open world streams off the disc (at least it does for the 360 version).

Is the MP demo only for 360? I havent seen it for the PS3, just the regular demo.

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

That I dodn't know. But I do the the demo I played the pace is somewhat faster but the maps were consider larger than say what we normally see in COD or even GOW. It was a typical "hold three points" for the longest. The landscape and building models were very good and being able to destroy and re-assemble them was just plain fun.

You can check at the offical "Red Faction" site.

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

ugh - no mid-mission check-points...

This wasn't a problem at first since the missions were short and consisted of just one part.

But later on in the game, you get missions that are much longer, more complicated which consist of several parts, and if you die right near the end, you gotta start the whole fucking thing over again from scratch.

Lame.

Yikes...we'll I'm sure there's other small "bugs" which they may be able to patch later on.

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

I hate when games do that. It makes things so difficult, especially for a "casual" gamer like me. That might be a deal-breaker for me, but between inFamous and Ghostbusters, I don't really have time for this one anyway

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

Well, a few more missions in, and they get even bigger and more complicated, but some of these bigger missions do have checkpoints - alleluia!

Did I mention this game is fucking huge? Easily one of the biggest sandbox games yet.

Hey slop...since you're luckier than all of us you rat bastard.....How does the game handle destroyed structures? Do things destroyed stay destroyed if you return to that location?

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

I don't mind no mid-mission check points, adds some difficulty. Sometimes frustrating yes, but rewarding when you beat the mission. You did it yourself, with no hand holding.

For the most part, yes, they stayed destroyed. The only time they don't is if you had previously destroyed a structure and then a mission you're on after that requires that same structure to be there, it'll mysteriously be there again - but only if it needs to be for that particular mission. Otherwise, shit stays destroyed.

Re: Red Faction Demo Out

I'll be picking this one up tomorrow. Even though I'll jump on the single player first I wouldn't mind jumping on some of the "destructive" modes in MP.

I'll have this too, send me an invite if you want to do some MP. Are you getting it at Gamestop to get the 4 exclusive maps?

Nope...I didn't know about the four map offer. If a Gamestop is close to where I'll be working then I may grab it...if not then to BB.

If the redemption code is a card, not packed inside, I'll try to grab an extra for you or Justin.
