If the Criterion Collection did Videogames...

A thread devoted to custom covers of video games in a Criterion Collection style. Some great work!

If Criterion released Videogames

I forgot how fucking awesome Shadow of the Colossus was until now

Just think if they remade it on the PS3...

What I find so amazing about the Bioshock one is that it doesn't necessarily have to be a plane going into the sea, it could be flying against a dark cloud - I love such ambiguity.

Reminds me of my South Park covers. I really like the Beyond Good & Evil and Mario Kart Wii ones. Pikmin 2 is pretty solid as well. I would print some of these out in a heartbeat if they made full size covers.

Wow, I really like these. If somebody were to professionally print these or make them available somehow as a full cover I would probably buy some.

I like how this one makes you think for a second. I like it more than the game, actually.

I really wish that some company really did this (more for PC games than console games, just because old PC games are sometimes nearly impossible to get running on modern machines).

Great pictures.

If you look at the source of these pictures, you'll find a Gears of War, but I wasn't as impressed with it as I am most of these.

I spent about a half hour last night looking at all of them, and with a few exceptions, they were all amazing.

Yeah, most of the users 'get' it and some are missing the mark a bit. But kudos to all of them for participating.

I didn't have time to before but here are a few I liked that haven't been posted yet:

Also this one looks to be very inspired:

Both the Mirror's Edge cover and the Silverchair cover are pastiches of Piet Mondrian's paintings.
