Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
I started playing this yesterday and I dunno, maybe I'm missing something because I'd say it's kind of 'meh'. Like Darksiders, it has a Ninja Gaiden II feel to me. Maybe I'm just not into the 'over-the-top' fighting games :(

Do people get this much gruff when they know they have something under the Christmas tree that they're anxious to play?

You mean people will actually look at your gametag and check out the dates you played and make a note of the discrepancy? Wow, that's some untrustworthy friends. You could always say that you just rented it.

Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
I suppose. But you're the one who seems overly anxious to play it asap - i was just suggesting an easy enough way to do so, and you could've done so weeks ago.

http://ctrlaltkill.org/?p=3058 There also hasn't been any sort of quasi-official response to the very long thread about these issues on Platinum Games' forum: http://forums.platinumgames.com/showthread.php?t=649 I have an Xbox 360 (that I haven't even turned on in a couple of years! I suck) but would greatly prefer to play this on the PS3 if at all possible. I don't want to settle for a gimped version, tho'... |
Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
Yeah, I read that right when the game came out - not sure what's happened since.

Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
ugh, reading through the links Adam posted, and it doesn't look like there's a patch in site. Should've picked it up for the 360 instead. I have no idea what that version is like, but there are loading times whenever the scenery switches... it gives you more time to practice moves, but if you're just trying to play the game it's very annoying (especially in the very beginning when you aren't even allowed to practice moves in the loading screen). Oh well.
|
Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
Just curious...I know on the 360 if you hit "select" while in the loading/practice screen it keeps it in practice mode. Does the PS3 also have this option?
|
Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
yes (well I haven't tried personally, but I read it in the PSN mag review)
|
Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
Yes, practice mode is in the PS3 version.
However, after playing it some more, the loading times are seriously getting on my nerves. I have no idea how the 360 version is, but it has to be better than this. This is a typical scenario. I die during a boss fight. Loading while the next screen comes up, asking me if I want to continue. Loading after I select yes (for quite a while, too, though you can practice moves in this screen). Loading AND saving when the game actually comes back, which is right before a cutscene (I just continued, why does it have to save at this point?). Cutscene starts, it's loading. I press pause to try to skip the cutscene, and the pause menu won't even come up right away, it's loading. I skip the cutscene and it's loading again. Finally get to the boss battle, then I die again and start over. Choose not to continue, and it takes a few seconds of loading to even get back to the chapter select menu. You can't even get to the option menu in the game without it loading. It's ridiculous. |
Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
I just finished this game last night and all I can say is WOW. What a cool game with amazing visuals. Unlike the DMC series, I actually had a lot of fun and wanted to finish the game. But that's not saying much because the game play in Bayonetta was very addictive.
I'm going to use some of the Halo Farming methods to collect Halos so I can buy more shit and play on "Easy". EDIT: I decided to play again on Normal instead. |

What level did you play on?

PS3 version getting update for hard-drive install to cut down on load times.
Granted, not all could given how much data a BD can hold. |

Great. It does say Japanese update though. Are we sure it will come here?

Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
I finally got around to playing the demo for this game. The graphics are rather low rent but the gameplay is fun and addictive. I must buy this game.
So what exactly is wrong with the PS3 version? |

It's not a graphical high-water mark, but it's certainly an above-average looking game, graphics wise. |
Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
I love the character designs and overall art style but the graphics aren't too hot. Though I feel the graphical drawbacks are to accomodate all the frenetic action. And that's an OK tradeoff.

Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
The huge bosses that are actual levels that you're traversing are pretty graphically impressive, especially on a technical scale.

Really? The textures are crisp and varied, the art design is inspired, the polygons are many, etc.

Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)
The scale of the bigger opponents were great but the overall graphics just looked okay to me. Put it this way: God Of War III looks much better but Bayonetta is a lot more fun. In fact, while I played GOWIII, all I kept thinking ws "well, it looks better than the last two" but it never gave me the sense of fun and joy the Bayonetta demo gave me.
I can wait on a price drop for God Of War III but I'll gladly buy Bayonetta ASAP. |
