Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)

Starting off, it has three difficulty settings: normal, easy, very easy. A "hard" and an "extreme" difficuly open up when you first finish the game. You can change them between each chapter.

I started on normal, which was fine at first, but ramped up faster than I could get a good handle on the different controls and techniques. But then easy was a little too easy (although more fun, as it had me pulling off moves I couldn't on normal).

As far as the details, pretty much every option is adjustable, the camera works like a charm, and is also manually adjustable. The music is kinda lame though, actually, very lame - it's pretty much just bad J-Pop. Thankfully, you can turn it down or completely off.

Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)

thanks slop.

is this more of a fighting game where you just go about fighting enemies all the time until the end boss or something or are there some platform/exploration elements, things to pick up, etc...

any other games you can relate this one to?

It's got a little bit of exploring - maybe a little more than God of War does, for example - but it doesn't have the puzzle/platforming GoW has (they hide some items out of the way should you want to explore), but it's mostly fighting, with bosses strewn about the level amongst the rabble. But the fighting always feels fresh and no round of fighting overstays it's welcome. I like how you can pick up weapons dropped by the enemy and use them, and they're all different - it kinda felt like Power Stone in that sense. A clever thing is how they let you practice moves during loading screens - very helpful, and sometimes makes me wish the load times were longer - HA!

Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)

i just played the demo. looked beautiful and all. just very hectic and confusing. i mean i think i enjoyed it, but not sure. i beat the first boss in the demo when my hair came out to form a black god and ate him up.

you were supposed to hit the glowing orb on his back right?

then kept going and another god came out and threw a bridge around with me on it. couldn't beat him and then demo ended.

it all seemed good, just didn't really know what the hell was going on. i was able to learn the moves and execute which i liked...

The demo was a bit too hectic for its own good, the full game keeps things far more clear.

Yeah, some fights are more frantic than others, and it's all done for effect. The more you play, the more you understand the rhythms of the game and you can better wrap yourself around it, so what was once hectic and confusing is still hectic but no longer confusing.

The really surprising thing is how the story actually makes more sense than I ever thought it would - you also pick up a bunch of books and stuff throughout the game that fill you in on the background and mythology of the world they've created.

Word is that they're working on a patch, to be released in a few weeks, that will bring the PS3 version up to snuff - I'd wait 'till then.

HAven't even touched this yet. Working on darksiders now... It also seems that a game store near me likes to break street date so I also have a copy of Army of Two the 40th hour.

Re: Bayonetta Trailer (Platinum Games, Xbox 360/PS3)

Finished it last night. I changed from Normal to Easy after chapter 3 and it was the best thing I did all game. The game got a lot easier, but it became a much more enjoyable experience. I could have fun with the game and not get frustrated, which is my goal when playing most games. It also went A LOT quicker on Easy. With Darksiders and a few others sitting there staring at me, that was also welcomed.

In the end I think I enjoyed it. The game does about 30 different things at any given time, so it's kind of hard to grasp it, but I had a couple actual LOL moments at the ridiculousness of it all.

I just picked this up for $20 after dumping some games.

I think I spent 3 1/2 hours on this last night. It's lots of fun.

Brilliant idea, except for those pesky GamerCard/GamerTag things.

I have no idea what those things are. In my world, a store will take back an unopened game with a receipt.

His girlfriend got it for his birthday. If he buys it and plays it before his birthday, his gamercard will tattle on him.

Pretty much.. though I know what she got me and it's not Bayonetta.

But I think she's letting some friends know about it, so I guess it still counts.

So why do you have to wait? Just buy it if you want it.

Just play it offline. Problem solved.

It's a fantastic game, BTW.

You mean people will actually look at your gametag and check out the dates you played and make a note of the discrepancy? Wow, that's some untrustworthy friends. You could always say that you just rented it.
