For PS3-only users, or people who just don't care, I'm sure they're a nice little incentive. But not having them from the beginning and not having them in every game is pretty damned lame.

Just my opinion.
Fair enough...just didn't see your point...other than to bash.

Fact is, if you have a PS3 in your home and haven't played Uncharted, Flower, Warhawk or LittleBIGPlanet, you MIGHT just have an unhealthy bias.

I played Uncharted, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I played it before trophies were implemented and as they're not retro-active, they don't show up.

I would say that I have a somewhat unhealthy bias, as I just very little interest in playing a game that doesn't have achievements. I played the Folklore demo and really loved it, so I went out and bought the game. Haven't even stuck it in the PS3 yet. Even though it would probably give me a better gaming experience, I'd rather play Kung Fu Panda or Open Season, as it would add to my arbitrary GamerScore that doesn't amount to anything.

Is it stupid? Yes. Can I help it? No.

Just hit level 6. Like the RPG aspect of the trophy system, but getting a platinum is just not something I can dedicate myself to. I've done it once on Burnout, but I rarely focus on a game long enough to get all the trophies.

I'm in the same boat. Burnout was my only platinum, although there are some easy platinum games out there. I'm trying to get the Sega Genesis Collection through Goozex, that's supposed to be a very easy platinum.

I do find myself finishing my games more now to try and get as many trophies as I can, but I'm not a multiple playthrough kind of guy.

Trying to play as many different games as I can before I settle on one to finish. My platinum is on Fallout 3 and I still plan on going back to finish a couple of the side quests.

Yeah, I never could get the last trophy on that one by beating Dr Robotnic's Mean Bean Machine. Seemed an impossibility to me, but I know some people find it easy.

Re: Your Playstation Trophy Collection • Post Your Level Here!

i got no platinum at all

The only i think i can get is Uncharted (the only missing trophy, beat the game on Crushing). Other than that, everything else is a lot work... LBP, damn, i don't think i can design an impressive level to attract the celebrity status.

Sure you can! The tools take a while to sort out, but building a level is a game on its own.

I finally aced "The Bunker" last night, which I think is the hardest one to ace...now I just need to ace a few small levels for that trophy.

After having a PS3 since launch day and never putting a game in, I got my first two trophies tonight. I still don't like the way the system is implemented, how it tracks, and the overall PS3 on-line set-up though, compared to 360.

It might be useful to put the list of trophy-compatible games in the first post of this thread. The thread might earn itself some longevity even after the novelty of the EU gamer tags wear off.

I think there are too many games to just list now, plus every game coming out from now on will have them. It's really not that hard to google PS3 trophies.

FIFA 09 just released a patch and they support trophies now. I got my first 2 trophies last night.

I got the "play" trophy in LBP last night (ace every level). It's funny that I don't care about trophies on the aggregate, but I will pick individual trophies to chase every now and then. It's fun when they make you play the game in a way you otherwise wouldn't.

Yeah, I know, welcome to 2005.

True on all counts. But we're lazy and like things spoon fed to us.

It's easy to Google all the Rock Band DLC, but that thread's updated just to have the info handy. It was just an idea to have something that might prove useful in the thread. How to acquire the easiest Platinum trophies would also be useful. Spoilerfied lists of the hidden trophies in games.

There just might not be enough PS3 users to really care. If so, that's cool too. In which case this thread will just disappear into the DVDTalk wasteland in a week or so.

Once you get a taste...

That is what I like about achievements: that they can reward for playing the game to its fullest extent or in a different way. Something like Geometry Wars 2, for example, is primarily for high scores and leaderboards, but the achievements are completely independent of that and gave you something else to try for.

Slightly o/t, but I wish they would patch Geo. Wars 2 to give in game bonuses for the achievements. Once you've done them, that's it. I'd like to see them re-enable them so that you still have something to strive for while playing the 'correct' way.

For example, imagine if the ever popular 'Wax on/Wax off' achievements in Pacifism gave you a green gem bonus for accomplishing it during regular play. Or if the Waves achievement for surviving without firing for X amount of waves gave you a huge point bonus. I think it would add a new dynamic to each mode.

PS3trophies.org has a pretty comprehensive list:
Retail games
PSN titles

This is purely a guess, but it seems like they update when you check your trophies on your PS3 or compare with a friend. I think they just stay on your system otherwise.

I base this hypothesis on the fact that you get a little loading screen when you pull up your trophies.

Nope, I've checked since then. It's how I know I'm at 17% towards level 5 or whatever and that it isn't updating

yes actually you do
this is the way it is currently set up

there is no automatic update, it is manual
you have to log into the Euro site ... go to the "my portable ID" tab, and click the red "update" button near the bottom of the screen

this is the only way to currently update your info ... of course trophies must be synced on your system first before you do this step
