Very valid point. Do you have a GH/RB instrument plugged in? I know, gets annoying...

Yes, I typically keep my RB instrument dongles plugged into one of the ports for simplicity's sake, so I don't need to plug them in everytime I play RB. I typically play more RB than games that require a controller set to #1, so I live with it. But I can't believe it would be too difficult to have some kind of setting to fix the problem. Maybe one of these next few fw upgrades they'll get a clue.

You get what you pay for apparently with PSN. I suppose XBOX does have some perks with the yearly fee.

The time seems pretty consistent to me. It's almost always Thursday around 5-6PM CST.

Why they didn't go with Tuesday to match XBL, I have no idea. I'll bet they lose some sales on multiconsole releases just due to the two day difference.

I have both systems and can certainly attest to that.

One thing I really hope they do in the next generation is have better peripheral management. More and more games are using specialized controllers, and it's annoying to have to change the controller to port 1 almost every time I turn on the PS3. There should be a system where games would have configuration settings that would allow any port.

So, for instance, a steering wheel would always be port 3 (or whatever you assign it), and there would be a setting in the XMB/Dashboard to tell that game to use port 3 for player 1. I don't think they could do this now, because the games would have to be designed to check for this.

Anyone know when Capcom will release the full game of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for download? Also, any idea on the cost?

It'll come out within the next month, as it's part of the Summer Of The Arcade 2009 that will begin next week and run through July. Apparently it's going to be $14.99.

When they fixed/replaced (not sure which) my drive, they did not touch the HDD. If you're lucky you'll get the same system back. If not, someone else could potentially get your system (with HDD!) once Sony refurbs it.

Today's PSN Store update sucked a big fat one. It was probably the worst update in the past few months if not more.

"Summer of Arcade" is an XBLA promotion, not a PSN one. It's likely that it'll release on the same week for both, but I don't see why PSN has to be hamstrung by Microsoft's marketing promotions.

They don't but usually they release the games within 2 or at most 5 days apart on the two systems.

I just got the confirmation email that my ps3 has been shipped. We will see if I get the same system back. Thanks for the info. I hope they reformat the harddrive before they give the system to someone else if that is the case. Like I said, I couldn't backup for it kept giving me errors so I took the risk of sending the unit with all my stuff on it.

Yeah, I can't remember another week where I didn't download anything at all.

I may get a couple of the rock band tracks though. My GF really likes Evanessence.

Hopefully this never happens again, but always remember that the PS3 hard drive is removable, which would allow you in a situation like this to remove the hard drive, connect it to a computer and make a backup that way if you wanted to be safe.

Sounds easy enough but I think the only way you can backup your HDD this way is by making an image of the hard drive. I haven't heard whether this works or not. I do know that your pc is unable to see any of the files that are on the PS3s HDD as I learned the hard way when my first 60gb system went belly up with the YLOD.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick talking more shit about PS3.

"I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform. It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better."
He's really pushing for a price drop isn't he?

Does his wife think $400 is too expensive? He needs to put that bitch in her place.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

Yeah, Bobby Kotick definitely cares about the consumer on a limited budget. Oh, and don't forget to pre-order Tony Hawk Ride ($120), DJ Hero ($120), and Band Hero Special Edition ($200) today!

the funniest thing about that @sshat is he knows it is quite clear Sony is looking to finally doing a price cut (rumored to be around the release of Madden) and he is trying to look like he had influence on the decision

by the way Sony already said they were cutting PSP development kit costs by 80%
I guess he wanted 81%

maybe he should look at the crap his company churns out that see frequent 50% markdowns at retail

Left 4 Dead 2 possibly coming to PS3?

I'm at work so I can't open the EA website link, but apparently it is showing on the official L4D2 website with box art and everything. If it were just a typo, I can't imagine they would have box art for it. I'm sure this will be an EA port like the Orange Box was, since that fat slob Gabe Newell is too lazy to learn how to program for the PS3.

The Source engine was built for the PC. I don't think it is fair to blame Newell. Microsoft wisely designed the 360 so that PC engines could be quickly and easily ported over. Sony skimped on RAM and put in an underpowered GPU forcing developers to find ways to use the cell to handle all of these tasks. It makes porting things like the Source engine a nightmare.

Lets not forget that Sony was the company that was arrogant going into this generation. When Microsoft was bending over backwards for developers with support, adding RAM at extra expense and doing everything they could to make the 360 easy to develop for Sony was designing their console without anything in mind, but their own infallibility. They were the kings and developers would have to figure out their complex hardware just like they did with the difficult PS2. If anyone in this situation acted like a fat slob it was Sony. Even the recent Ghostbusters game suffered from the PS3 architecture and I don't think this will ever end this generation.

I hate hearing developers complain about the PS3. I understand its harder to program for, but obviously its possible, and if you cant do it...shouldn't you look for another job?

Anyway, bring me L4D2!

Thank you, my point exactly. It wouldn't be so bad if Mr. Newell would shut up about it. But he is constantly slamming the PS3. Other developers seem to be able to get some amazing things out of the PS3. It doesn't seem like he is even willing to try.

By the way, the page has apparently been updated. The PS3 info is gone, so I guess it was a mistake.
