How are you liking the Battlefield experience so far?

It's OK, I guess...certainly more interesting than CoD with the vehicles and destructible environments...but my average life was probably less than 20 seconds, and many of those deaths were in under 5 seconds.

I have the same problem with it that I do with every military FPS: It's a twitch-fest, where whoever spots the other guy first wins.

Shouldn't be a problem.

I'm supposed to play with Lee a bit this weekend as well, so bear with me. I wish you and he had characters at the same level (he's around 35) so we could get 3 of us in the game.

Have him join in tonight anyway. He'll catch up soon enough. ;)

He also doesn't have the DLC yet.

The theme this week is going to be Zones...at least 2-3 maps worth. The games are never close, but they tend to be fun anyway, and they closely mimic the game type that Gonzo likes to play on BFBC2.

Will be sure to pressure him to get the DLC today as well.

Any other requests for tomorrow?

Damn wish I could have joined in on BFBC2. I was out of town all weekend. I haven't had a chance to play online yet.

speaking of playing online, when do you plan on joining us for Black Ops or NHL?

Never. I hate you guys.

Okay, no I don't... but it sounded better than "I dunno."

I never see anyone on for hockey anymore so I've just been trudging through some Be a GM. I want to commit to a Black Ops appearance this Thursday. I'll know Wednesday when I get my workload for the rest of the week.

chess: I was getting a "disconnected" notice throughout the night while we played, although I was only kicked twice. Even with a different router that has Tomato firmware. I'm going to try again with the wireless tomorrow, but will have a wired option at the ready if there's problems.

At least then I'll know if it's the router or the ISP.

Weird that it's only been happening for a week and nothing's changed on my end.

When do you want to finish up Borderlands?

I think we need a thirty minute CTF on Archipelago. Make it happen.

I have it set for the third map, I think...and am happy to set it to 30 minutes.

4 Zones (theme of the night)
3 CTFs (Archipelago, Badlands, Island Outpost)
2 TDMs (Urban Strike w/ jetpacks and Douchebag)
1 DM (K&N lobby)

Tuesday. Bitches.

It'll run roughly 7:50-8:20...tried to load it before you're usually on.

Slider's surely a douche, but at least he shows up. -poke-

I should be on tonight though. :bdance:

I don't request it just to be a douche, Archipelago is the best damn map in the entire game.

You're doing it wrong then, but then I don't blame you as it takes a while to get used to the different style of play. It is not a run and gun game and therefore less twitchyness. Always have back up, play in a squad and you don't have to kill anyone to help your team. Spotting is almost better then killing in most cases anyway. Not that I have plenty of time lately, but would still love to get together a squad or even just do the coop add on if anyone is interested.

To keep this warhawk related...maybe I will make it tonight, but hard to gauge...bitches

Don't get me wrong...all the ingredients for a fun game are there, and it's technically very impressive. Once I had a house collapse with me in it, and I just thought "damn...that was cool". The guys I was playing with were only playing one game type that was sort of like zones, so that was limiting, and I kept spawning on teammates who were already in "the shit". My best K/D ratio was something like 4:12, so I was definitely struggling, even when I was trying to be deliberate.

But I'm sticking with it, especially with my buddy sticking with Warhawk. He loves the game, so I have to give it an honest shot.

Technically, Archipelago isn't that great of a map, but Acropolis Assault (the one you're actually talking about) is my favorite single map as well.

Island Outpost, Eucadia, Vaporfield Glacier and Badlands are all better than Archipelago overall.

Really looking forward to tonight for some reason.

Please be mentally prepared for lopsided Zones games. They always turn out that way.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Weak turnout, but still good times. Missing a lot of regulars...Sean, Flip, Cruz, Z, Ian...and none of the semi regulars like OG or Z made it out. Played a lot of 4 on 3. For some reason, the game was really stuck on two specific teams and didn't mix us up a lot. The weird thing is that one team was better at flag and the other better at zones, and it was very consistent that way.

I'd like to see how Zones goes with more people. We were settling into some pretty competitive matches, but once the tide turns, it gets ugly in a hurry.

Highlights for me:

I got the coolest ambient warfare kill on Nic during douchebag. I hopped out of a tank not even knowing he was near me and it continued to roll and crushed him as he walked out a door.

Also during douchebag, I see Chew in a tank and Nic hiding on the opposite side from him behind a rock. They go in circles for about 30-45 seconds, and I finally binoc the rock. I really want to play on the douche team sometime. :)

Nic grenaded my Warhawk about 4 times.

I tanked Slider's Warhawk at least 3 times on Valley Battle and some of them were awesome shots.

I had a couple of ridiculously long grenade throws on Knives and Nades on Nic and Hunter.

Several incidents tonight of people talking smack and dying milliseconds later. My favorite was when I landed my Warhawk to capture a zone and Nic took it and starts shooting at me. He taunts me with "Where'd your Warhawk go?" and Chew splodes him with a tank. Chew, without missing a beat says "Where'd YOUR Warhawk go?" rotfl

I told KTown at work today that the best thing to do if a single Warhawk comes after your jeep is to just hop in the turret the shoot it, and damned if he didn't do it to me on Badlands.

Lots of solid team play on Archipelago and Badlands.

Gonzo making flag runs and getting a few planted. He's a Battlefield guy, so he's all about teamwork. His one beef with our game right now is the aimlessness of some people *ahem* during objective based games.

Chew cheating on Urban Strike.
