My 360 Red-Ringed--WOO HOO!!!!!!!!
Well, last month I almost bought an elite 360, but then I thought "All I need is the 120GB hard drive". I couldn't make up my mind, so yesterday my 360 made it up for me. My 360 Halo Edition that I bought on Halo 3 launch day red-ringed on me, and my 2 year warranty at Best Buy got me an Elite today. I didn't realize the ol' 20GB's were $399 until I looked at my receipt, so it was an even exchange for an Elite. Now to re-download the 300 or so DLC items

Congratulations! You probably already know this, but make sure you transfer your DRM licenses and use the marketplace to quickly queue up everything in your history you want to redownload.

Re: My 360 Red-Ringed--WOO HOO!!!!!!!!
Thanks pinata. I know 'of' the DRM transfer, but do I really need to do it? Won't re-downloading it be good enough? Also, here's the situation. I had two 360's. The one that died wasn't really played that much, we mainly watched movies on it (90/10%). The 2nd one (in our gameroom) had about 95% of my DLC on it. Now, I want to keep the new one in the living room and just swap-out the hard drives. If I put the new HD in the 2nd 360 (which has almost all of my DLC), do I still need to transfer DRM's? The 360 in our livingroom will be just fine with a 20GB hard drive, plus everything is already on the 20GB.

You're cool provided you are always logged in to Live without doing the DRM transfer. Otherwise you won't be able to access the content.

DRM is only necessary if the content is used with your profile being signed into XBL. If your account is always signed in, it won't matter (unless your internet is down).

20GBs were $399 2 years ago when I bought my first one.

20GB were most certainly $399.

Re: My 360 Red-Ringed--WOO HOO!!!!!!!!
I think the Halo ones came out at $399 when the white ones dropped to $349. My launch 360 died the day of H3's launch, so I believe that's how I ended up with the Halo edition one, it was an even exchange since the launch 360 was $399. Actually, my launch one never red-ringed, but it just wouldn't play any discs anymore...I kept getting the 'dirty disc' error.

...that's what I paid for my first one. Wasn't the Halo Edition $50 more?
