I didn't read all his comments, but from what I read he comes off as a collosal fanboy douche who would break it on purpose.

Because breaking an expensive piece of electronics on purpose to prove a point on the internet is a dick move.

especially if he returns it to the store for credit, which I'm sure he will do whether he broke it or if it really did break by itself (which I sort of doubt).

Just a random comment, but it really irks me when my controller's guide button lights start flashing when the battery is half empty. It's distracting and unnecessary.

i thought it only does that when the batteries need to be changed. I'd rather be informed that my batteries are about to die rather than be in an online match and the controller just shuts off.

I agree. It's super annoying.

I don't look down at my controller enough to notice most of the time.

My last one started about 6 hours before the battery died.

Can someone please explain to me where in that video you can ascertain that he broke it on purpose?

So, after a repair a few months ago, my 360 is displaying 2 red lights, it is in a fully ventilated area and it is about 50 degrees in the room that my home theater is located. I should have no problem getting another repair, probably for free this time. However, I realize it is time to buy another 360. The $100 arcade edition at Wally World is gone, who's got the best deal on an arcade edition?

Toys R Us has a deal I believe where you get an Arcade for $100 when you buy a $150 package (which includes Dragon Age Origins plus some junk). So $250 in total.

I personally would wait until closer to xmas. I would expect better deals then.

Does anyone have a Zune HD? I was wondering if you can transfer downloaded movies directly from your xbox to the zune player, or do you have to do this through a computer?

I know this is late but here is the scoop on this guys video prank. It got a lot of people up in arms.
He faked it for the video using christmas lights behind the faceplate.

Troll troll is troll.

You can't sync between the xbox and the zune. But if you purchase something on the console you can sync it on the pc to the zune.

Oh that really sucks, do you know if they are going to change that in the future? I don't have a computer at home so I was hoping you would be able to sync it through the xbox.

Ugh, I hate thinking I've unlocked achievements and not getting credit for them. Trying to get thru Lego Rock Band as fast as I can and it's not crediting me for 3 things right now. :(

I should have Open Road, Walking on Air and Fan-TASTIC, but nothing even though my in-game stats shows that I accomplished these.

Same thing happened on Rock Band 2, never giving me my achievement for Rock Immortal Inductee as I completed that.

How, exactly, do we know this? I'd imagine it would be a hell of a lot easier to force a RRoD than to manufacture one with stealth Christmas lights. To me, that sounds like building a miniature robotic cockroach to frighten somebody instead of just using a real cockroach.

How complex do you think that is? The faceplate comes off, he's got the system sitting up on something, wires could be run underneath. Duct tape over the factory lights and add your own. Also the green light on all 5 of my systems was never that green.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

It's not that I think it is hard to do I was just curious as to what sort of evidence from that video alone made everyone automatically think it was a hoax. Yeah the chances of that happening are quite slim, but hey it could have happened.

If the guy's video is fake, what point does he prove? The failure rate of the Xbox is already a well established fact, no? Should I post a youtube video of a dog biting my arm to prove that, yes, dog bites do hurt.

pinata242 12-07-09 06:25 PM

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

His point would simply be to show that even the latest and greatest hardware revision still has problems. As I said, ridiculous fanboyism. Why you'd spend money on a system to try to discredit it is beyond me unless you have a direct, vested interest in seeing Microsoft fail. But, as you said, who is paying attention that wouldn't aready know that's a possibility?

Maybe it's a statement about the commercialization of Christmas?
