Also loving the achievement stuff!

I'm pretty sure that ALL members of a NetFlix party would need to have an active subscription.

Cool, but is NXE going to be faster with this update or the next one?

you are probably correct...otherwise this feature would actually be cool and useful...and why would we want that?

I have to say, that since upgrading my 20gig hard-drive to the 120gig, NXE has been considerably faster - at least 2 to 3 times faster.

As cool and useful as "borrowing" a neighbor's satellite signal?? Darn you Microsoft! :p

I have a 120 drive. NXE runs like molasses. Sometimes I'll just try to check the price of an item in the marketplace and it'll take 30-45 seconds to show it. Disgusting.

^ have you had the 120 drive for a while, or more recently? I changed mine just a few weeks ago. My point was that moving everything to a new non-fragmented drive is what may have improved things, not the size or type of drive. Things may very well slow down again after a while.

Exactly. I don't understand why someone would expect to use a pay service without paying. If you just want Netflix streaming then pay for the one out at a time - it is like 7$ a month and will let you stream.

Or just use PlayOn and Hulu.

A friend of mine was having connection issues, always lagging/dropping out of matches and after ruling out the connection itself, modem, and multiple routers he eventually formatted his drive(120GB) and started fresh last week. He swears the refresh has had a night and day difference on the NXE.

I wonder if clearing the cache would have the same effect.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

Yesterday I picked up the 32" Panasonic and XBOX 360 Pro at Best Buy with the promotion they were having. I went to one BB and they did not have the TV, but they had the PRO w/2 bundles games (Indiana Jones Lego and Kung-Fu Panda). They said I could use that console as part of the bundle, but since they did not have the TV I had to go to another.

So, I went to the other store and they had the TV, but just the basic 360 Pro.

Do you think I would be able to return the basica 360 Pro for the Bundled one? Are they technically the same SKU/Part Number? Also, are all the 60GB PRo's the JASPER or whatever the best chip is?

I'm curious if it is worth my time to try and switch out the consoles....I don't really WANT the games, but they could net me a few dollars in trade value....plus LEGO games are somewhat fun.

Mine is super slow with the 120GB Elite drive. It is annoying to say the least. I've cleared the cache and it seems to be a little faster, but resorted back to its old ways. I'm not about to format my drive though....I don't want to lose all my data. Not sure what else to do.

Sorry about the double post....oops.

I would think newly produced Pros would have the Jasper chip in them by now.

Did you guys already discuss these E3 reactions to Natal? I'm surprised that they all seem so genuine.

http://www.youtube.com/xboxprojectnatal

To make a link to DVD and TV I'll throw in the Chuck link. ;)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ELcJHTRlRSc&rel=0&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&feature=player_profilepage&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ELcJHTRlRSc&rel=0&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&feature=player_profilepage&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Sorry if this was discussed a ways back, but I didn't look into it much beyond the initial press articles, and I had not seen these.

First I hope the page is still available later this afternoon after I leave the office.

Secondly, I hope I'm selected in the first round. Last time (NXE), I was selected in the last round, when they let in all the people that signed up. That was like 2 days before everyone else but still. :(

There was a report today on Gizmodo that their (at least one of them anyway) Xbox account was exhibiting adverts/video in the dashboard. :(

That would be a cruel joke if the dashboard beta just gives you an opportunity to be advertised to sooner.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

I need some quick networking help. I'm trying to get a family member networked to their 360 and am having an issue I can't resolve. Here goes:

The setup:
- He originally had the 360 networked for media via Windows Media Center in XP and all was good.
- He has a new Vista machine and we are trying to network that one instead.
- We successfully removed the Media Extender in XP on the old machine
- On the 360, went to Settings-> Computers -> and got a new WMC 8-digit code to put into WMC on the new Vista PC
- Windows media center successfully runs on the 360 and sees all the files. Music plays great.

Problem:
- If you go to the Music tab in NXE or try to stream music via the Guide button it's still showing the old XP machine and not the new Vista machine

So if you boot up Media center on the 360 all works well. If we try and play music files any other way it sees the old machine and doesn't work.

I'm out of town and visiting for a couple days so I'd kinda like to get this up and running properly while I'm here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try running one and booting down the other and vice-versa? Can you turn off the MCE inside of the Dashboard? You generated a new code, but that doesn't sound like it then automatically dumps the old IP.

Yeah, try this.

In the new PC go to Windows Media Player, best if it's the latest version, and enable sharing media.

Microsoft Dates Next Xbox 360 Dashboard Update

Tucked into a Comic-Con announcement from Microsoft is news that the Xbox 360's next Xbox Live update is coming in 21 days.

The 360 dash will get an update on August 11.

In it, Microsoft confirmed today, will be the launch of the new Xbox Live Games On Demand service, which will launch with more than 30 games. Examples listed in Microsoft's press release include Assassin's Creed, BioShock, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Mass Effect, and Sonic The Hedgehog.

Also on the 11th will be the introduction of Netflix party support, allowing multiple people to watch Netflix movies together. The Avatar marketplace will launch, offering virtual knicknacks like an RC Warthog from Halo.

Matching the schedule Microsoft gave Kotaku after E3, Xbox 360 integrations with Twitter, Facebook and Last.FM as well as the ability to instantly stream movies in 1080p for users with fast enough connections will go live in the fall.

Microsoft plans to provide limited access to the next dashboard update to press and a lucky bunch of fans in the next couple of weeks.
