Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Ok, so then in this case you would still need the GTA disc in the drive and all the HDD drive space for the 2 GTA expansions.
Since you can get deals on points (even via ECA), I would say just get the current DotW for the first expansion and, if you like it, go for the 2nd later. Maybe even wait for it to be a DotW in 2010. |

Rockstar announces GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony, coming to Xbox Live and retail compilation The second episode of Rockstar's promised downloadable expansions to Grand Theft Auto IV has been announced! The cheeky developer revealed the DLC as The Ballad of Gay Tony, which places you in the (assumed) fancy shoes of Luis Lopez, a "part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince" (or "Gay Tony"), the titular bar mogul who made a number of appearances in GTA IV. While we're sure to hear more about the particulars of Gay Tony during E3, the method of the game's release should prove to be interesting as well. Not only will the expansion hit Xbox Live this fall for $19.99, it'll also appear on a retail disc with The Lost and Damned. This retail disc, titled Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, won't contain the core GTA IV game -- nor will it require GTA IV to play. It'll hit store shelves in the fall, selling for $39.99. We'll let you know more when we know more! Though it souns like Gay Tony might be delayed to 2010, per another article there. |

Megan Fox Wants To Play Transformers With You
Perhaps the thumb will be to Miss Fox's advantage in Saturday's Game with Fame session, during which she'll be challenging Autobots and Decepticons alike if multiplayer matches of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the release of the Character and Map Pack Plus downloadable content than adding "Megan Fox 2009" to your Xbox friends list, logging in around 3PM Pacific on Saturday, August 29th, and weeping quietly as everyone but you gets to play with her. http://kotaku.com/5345997/megan-fox-...rmers-with-you |

GOTY edition of Gears 2 coming out on Sept 1st for $39.99
http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/Prod...oduct_id=75730 Looks like it has all of the downloadable content on there too. That is a killer price if it's true. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Well, my RRoD Xbox 360 came back to me today via UPS. Shockingly, it was my own 360 but they added a nice big crack to the top of the case for me.
Oh well, at least it works again. |

Call them ASAP and report it. That happened to me on my very first RROD in '06. I didn't notice it until a week later so by the time I called they didn't believe it was their fault since I waited so long to call. They figured I dropped it, or something on my watch and was looking for a free repair.
I wasn't really looking for a big handout, but it just sucks that I get a cracked Xbox due to having to ship it back for a RRoD. |

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Has anyone been able to confirm if the price drops for the 360 are actually going to happen this weekend or not?
I have seen the advanced sales ads for them but nothing official from MS yet. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
The official word from MS is all over the place. Here's the short of it from Major Nelson.

Now should I worry about seeking a jasper 360 or not bother? Or are they all jasper chips now? |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Semi-official? :hscratch: You do know who Larry Hryb (Major Nelson) is, right?
Have you checked any of the gaming blogs that have already reported on Microsoft's announcement? Or even the link in Major's post that went to MS's own PR? http://www.xbox.com/en-US/press/2009/0827-pricedrop.htm |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
And, yes, they're all Jasper now. But if you want to be sure, take a look through the window in the side of the box and find the voltage to the left of the S/N barcode. It can be tricky to see, but it's there.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
If you are not able to hook up a 360 online right away and start playing games offline do scores and stats and such update retroactively from when you do connect it or does it only start tracking from the date you get online?

Achievements - You'll get all the credit, as long as the account is not in 2 places simultaneously. The only thing you won't have tracked when offline is the date you earned the achievement since the Date/Time is picked up from the XBL servers. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
I purchased an Elite on 7/8/09 from Best Buy. Is there any chance B.B. would price match it?

Even "Premiere Silver RZ Members" only get a 45-day return window, which puts you over by... 31 + 28 - 8... carry the one... 6 days.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Dumb question...I was thinking about buying another xbox (either arcade or refurb 20gb) for an upstairs bedroom mainly for Netflix. I thought about another Roku but the xbox is just another $75 bucks more and the interface is a lot more user friendly since the update and you can never have too many xboxes. So...do you have to have two gamertags for that to work or can you just port yours over to the xbox being used. Can you have them both running at the same time? Do you have to take the harddrive off one and put it on the other each time (which would be a major pain the ass)?
Just trying to decide the best route to go. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Do the Arcade SKUs still have a Memory Unit in there? If so, get that and put your profile and relevant game saves on it and move that back and forth. Any large DLC would have to reside on the HDD and you'd have to move that back and forth or get a 2nd.

So, apparently 2 different sources have leaked info on a new 360 SKU called the "Super Elite", 250GB behemoth with 2 wireless controllers, and Forza 3.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
I'm thinking on getting an Arcade this holiday season too. I have an Elite right now.
I was actually thinking on moving the hard drive back and forth. And also the wireless adapter (I'm cheap...) Do I need something else? So I get the new Arcade, put the hard drive in, turn on the console, will it read everything the same as the Elite? |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
You could always get it at Amazon and get 13months of gold for free . http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Elite...KTDFG16N7MQYWR
Although the free months only work on the new sku with the different box. Instead you could get the FAble2/Halo 3 bundle, or the Kung Fu Panda/Lego Indy bundle which are both 299 also. |

As far as the Xbox goes, I was mainly just looking for Netflix use with it since it would pain me to play on a 30" TV when I have a 67" downstairs. Looks like the Roku may still be the easiest thing. Hopefully they will add a lot of the features Live added to the Roku interface. I don't really want to have to deal with a different gold account and moving harddrives around. Thanks for the info guys. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
I use the same gold account with both my 360s and I have no problems with just taking the MU from console to console. Why would this be an issue?
|
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
When you say MU, do you mean the hard drive attached to the side?
If so, it just seems like a minor pain in the ass every time the wife and I want to watch something. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
MU = Memory Unit. They fit in the front slots of the 360, under the disc tray.
|
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
MU = Memory Unit.
I do that as well between two xboxs. I keep my profile on the memory card. Use it connected to my 360 and it logs me in and I play games just fine. I can also take it to a friends 360 and log myself in and play games. |
