Call of Duty 4 - Content Filter??

My kids have Call of Duty: World at War, which they are only allowed to play with the content filer on.

Now they want Call of Duty 4. Does this game also come with a content filter? Their friend says it does, but their friend is also looking for someone to play against online, so I'm not taking him entirely at his word on this.

Also, if it does have it, does the content filter apply in online play mode? COD:WAW doesn't so I'm guessing the answer would be no here as well.

Thanks in advance,

TAPN

According to this, yes, but it doesn't work online:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Dose_call_...content_filter

I'm a bit confused about how some language and a bit of blood make a difference in a fairly realistic war simulator though. Seems like more of an all-or-nothing proposition.

Anyway, hope that helps, and good luck.

Unfortunately, that link is for COD:WAW, which they already have.

I need to to know if COD4 has it.

Thanks anyway!

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Content Filter??

I haven't seen any content filtering in COD4 but IMO is doesn't really need it. My 11 year old plays online and the worst I can remember seeing is blood from sniper headshots. It's nothing like W@W with shotgun blasts taking off limbs.

Sorry about the TAPN.

I can't find anything about it online, but if this sort of thing concerns you, I'd recommend www.whattheyplay.com

I can't get to it from work, but I'll bet they have a COD4 page, and it's a good reference site for parents.

CoD4 doesn't have the level of blood and violence that W@W does.

W@W earns it's M-rating, CoD4 should've been rated T.

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Content Filter??

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare got its M rating due to the language used by the soldiers. Considering this one is set during our war, the soldiers speak in a different tone. On top of that, despite the limited blood, the violence level is very high. Especially during the "helo rescue" and "village escape" levels.

There is a cheat option that gets unlocked called "Badyear Blimp" which...

Spoiler:

Causes the enemies to explode into tires. Badyear, get it? It reduces the violence and makes it comical when this is turned on.

That reminded me, when playing TDM and your on the US team, if you loose a voice announces that "we got our @sses kicked." That's the only thing I have an issue with for my kids, but TDM all she wants to play so I tell her to win so we dont have to hear it
