Re: Your favorite WTH moments in games
Going to echo the Eternal Darkness stuff. Lots of awesome moments and effects in that game.
I found the end of Braid to be mind blowing.
Most of the Dark Brotherhood stuff in Oblivion left me saying WTH!?!
No More Heroes left me saying WTF at approx. 2-3 minute intervals. (And I LOVED every minute of it! )
Shadow of the Colossus made me say WTH in a much more awestruck manner.

The ending of Braid was the first thing that came to mind.
Also, one of the Duke Nukem games (almost positive it was 3D) during a boss fight when you actually rip off his head and shit down his neck. He even pulled out a newspaper and everything. That was classic.

Wow ... I had totally forgotten about Conker's Bad Fur Day. I loved that game. Almost makes me want to dig out my N64 and play it again.

OK, I'll bite, what's that "erase save game" thing in Eternal Darkness? I've never played the game. I don't even know anything about that game.

The game has 'Sanity' effects that distort the world/screen around you:
--Aural hallucinations like voices, knocking, screams, footsteps
--Arms and limbs fall off and start bleeding, character dies, then instantly comes back and screams
--Alex saw herself dead in a bathtub full of blood in the mansion and screams REALLY loud.
--bleeding walls
--screen tilts back and forth
-- etc.
Then there are ones that are outside gameplay to mess with you. I believe one made it appear the volume on your tv was going down, complete with volume bar on screen.
The coup de grace though is the 'Save game' one. Xmiyux explained it pretty well.

Re: Your favorite WTH moments in games
That sounds really good.
I just checked the Wikipedia page for the game and it seems it was critically acclaimed but didn't sell well. "One the most underrated games of the last generation" they said.
I guess it should play without issue in the Wii, right?
Checking ebay it seems the game is widely available.

D'oh! We shouldn't have spoiled it for you then. Very critically acclaimed. I wonder if Dennis Dyak and what's left of Silicon Knights will go back to a ED sequel since finishing the Too Human trilogy seems unlikely at this point. I know he voiced opinion about doing it at some point. IIRC, Nintendo holds the rights to the game though, so if there is a sequel, it'll be on a Nintendo platform.

Killer7, the entire game is very strange. I've never played anything like it.
Pick up a copy and see for yourself. I can't imagine any other game topping it for bizarre-ness.

Surprised nobody mentioned Vault 112 in Fallout 3. And the ending to FFX.
