Xbox 360 HD-DVD drives
What has everyone done with theirs? Is there a market for them at all?
Mine is sitting in a closet since I got a PS3 for BluRay. Guess since I don't own any (just rented) it has little use other than taking up space.
Just saw the Matrix Trilogy for $9 deal on HDDVD and made me wonder if folks are still using them.

To answer your first question, I (like many, I would assume) have my HD DVD drive hooked up to my 360 as the many cheap HD DVDs I picked up didn't become invalid when I got my PS3 (which I had before the HD drive anyway).

I haven't watched many since getting a PS3 but I still use it on occasion.
Supposedly the HD-DVD drive is ringing up for $5 at Sears if you can find one on the shelf.

I just got my first 360 a couple of months ago and the HD DVD add on was one of my first purchases despite HD DVD being dead. Have it sitting right on top of the 360 and use it from time to time. I watched the Assassination of Jesse James on it just recently.

I have two drives. One hooked up to the xbox and the other to a PC. When I watch movies I always use the HD DVD drive and leave the console drive for games only. Keeps the wear down a little.

Where are you getting your HD-DVD moves to watch? I don't want to buy and seemed like I coudln't find them anywhere to rent anymore.

It's my only HD-DVD player - bought it (and my collection of HD-DVD movies)the moment they dropped to $50 - great deal. Might pick up a second one to keep on hand just in case.

I already have nearly 100 HD DVDs I bought before the death and many I picked up cheap after. I haven't bought any new ones since I grabbed Heroes Season 1 for $10, but what I still have on the shelf made paying $30 for an extra HD DVD player well worth the cost. I haven't rented any in a while, but Blockbuster still rents them online last time I checked.

Re: Xbox 360 HD-DVD drives
Up until last month, I used mine to watch HD DVDs from Netflix. Since I don't have a Blu-Ray player or a stand-alone DVD player, I now use the 360 add-on to watch DVDs from Netflix. It saves me the trouble of swapping out the game disc, although the wear-and-tear issue isn't so much a factor now that I can rip the game discs to the hard drive.

I don't have a huge collection of HD-DVDs, probably around 20 or so, but I have kept my HD-DVD drive so that I can watch those when I want. There are a few of them that still haven't been released on Blu; don't see why I still wouldn't want to watch them in HD.

I don't use a standalone DVD player, so I use the HD-DVD add-on to watch DVDs and my small (probably about 20) HD-DVD collection.

I've had mine for over a year, still use it to this day for movie playback. I keep meaning to pick up a spare online incase mine breaks but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I got mine shortly after release and still use it. Like everyone else, I keep meaning to pick up another one as back up. Are they still around in stores or is ebay the only way to get them now?

How do you have it priced? The local situation as that many people on CL have theirs priced far above what I would have to pay for a new unit/movies in the store.

I still use mine now and then since I have a collection of 20-30 HD-DVDs (many picked up on the cheap after the format crashed and burned).

Re: Xbox 360 HD-DVD drives
I still have it plugged to my Xbox 360. I kinda forgot about it.
I use an XA1 to watch my HD-DVDs now, when I watch them...
I guess my thinking is that if the XA1 has issues playing a movie I can try with the Xbox, and it's easier if it's already plugged... something like that. Yeah, I'm lazy.

I would buy one for $20 as a backup for my A35, if I were to find one locally. That's about as high as I would go.
