Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Anyone ever return one of the three games on a deal like this to Best Buy? I imagine as long as I don't make the game I return the free one, I should get $20 back. I think I just want Forza Horizon 2 and Dead Rising 3 in that price tier.

I haven't done this deal at Best Buy in a number of years, but the last time I did it, the free game actually rung up as free, and you had to return all 3 if you wanted to make a return. Could have changed since then though.

Nice thing about the GCU and the sale is that it stacks. I was able to get 3 games for 104 and change after tax. I went ahead and grabbed The Crew, WWE 2K14 and a copy of Far Cry 4 as a gift for someone else. All PS4 titles.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Alright, I ended up ordering LittleBigPlanet 3, LEGO Batman 3, and Far Cry 4.

Took a while to end up there. I had Dragon Age on list for a while, but I'm just not an RPG guy. Briefly considered COD before coming to my senses. Thought about The Crew, as the idea of being able to drive from one coast to the other was appealing, but then I started reading about rubber banding and the fact it takes ages to buy cars, and I kind of soured on it.

Too good of a deal to turn down with the gcu. Got

2x COD AW Day zero
And Lego batman 3 for 65$ after the rewards certs I've gained from buying the other games. Going to sell one of the cod. So should end up paying about $20 for the 2 games I'm keeping.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

haven't traded in a used game for credit at Best Buy before but may need to do so today

can you do it anytime during operating hours or is it like Target where someone from their mobile department is contracted out and is only there certain hours?

do you do it up at "customer service"?

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Went to BB today and used my GCU for the first time. However, I'm not totally sure everything rang up correctly. My games were:
Far Cry 4 - 59.99
Dragon Age Inquisition Deluxe ED - 69.99
Forza Horizon 2 - 39.99

I had 51.70 in store credit, and also used 15 worth of reward zone certs. My total still came out to: 73.05.

That seems high to me, and I don't think my GCU was applied correctly. 20% off of a 59.99 title should be around $12, but I don't see that reflected on the receipt.

@lopper
It looks like GCU was not applied at all.

Nope that didn't ring up right. It should be under $100 for three $60 games plus sales tax. Your GCU discount didn't seem to work, at least not like it should

I was afraid that's what happened. I'll stop back into the store and get it straightened out. Thanks for the help, guys!

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Does anyone have any experience on how Best Buy handles price adjustments? Especially on the B2G1 from this week. Several of the games I picked up this week are going to be cheaper next week. Halo is going to be $45, Far Cry will be $50, Forza 2 will be $35, and TLOU $30.

Say what you will about Gamestop, but I've never had to explain their own policies, promotions, or memberships to one of their employees. That is becoming a repeat occurrence at Best Buy, on the other hand.

I don't know for certain but willing to bet they won't let you reapply the B2G1F promotion next week at those lower base prices. They will probably say that promotion was only good for last week (well, this week but you know what I mean).

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I'm not looking for them to reapply the B2G1. But for example Halo that I paid $60 for (well $48 with GCU), it would be nice to get $15 back on that.

They probably won't let you do anything because you bought the games as a package. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Need a third game for the best buy sale. Getting gta5 and LBP3 for ps4. Drive club or nfs rivals complete? Loved hot pursuit on Xbox. Not a race sim guy, prefer arcadey racers. DC looks amazing and I know they fixed most of online issues but rivals seems more fun.

So much easier to do in store pickup (though even that gets screwed up sometimes, I don't know how they can say they pulled stuff and then say it's out of stock when I come in, unless they're selling my stock to someone else)
