Re: The Video Game Deals Thread
Yeah, used the coupon on my lunch for some Blu-rays and they had to override it to make it work. No way it'll be live past today. If it had worked on giftcards, I would've been pretty tempted to hit several stores, use it four times and get a Wii U and a game for half off.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread
Man, some of those stories on SD and CAG, and the justification... ugh. I don't have a problem with people using coupons and such, but thousands and thousands of dollars of gift cards? And we wonder why the deals are fewer and further between, and why the cashiers are trained to be skeptical.
On a side note, before the holidays I used the Target coupon to get a gift card for spending over a certain amount of money, and had to wait a while for a manager come to verify it, even though it scanned in directly. It ticked me off at the time, since it was a valid coupon printed from their own homepage, but I understand why they did it. |

It's probably because of all the people who used multiple $10 gc coupons on one big ticket item. IE it would accept a coupon for each $50 interval up to 5.

Actually, I read about that one somewhere. People figured out they could buy a $50 giftcard with a $50 giftcard and get the free $10 one for the transaction. So people were going through a bunch of lines at multiple stores to just keep changing out their $50 and getting a fresh $10 each time. It's got to be tough for retail marketers to come up with promotions that some people won't find a way to exploit the hell out of, though in the current instance, Best Buy fucked up what could've been pretty easy to execute.
Best Buy should have known better than to use a generic upc and for making such a crappy exception list. |
Re: The Video Game Deals Thread
Well, plus apparently you don't even need to use a Mastercard since it totals out before payment...
