I remember them going batshit over the 'SEXUAL SITUATIONS' in Mass Effect But I also remember how well the video game community blew up their hired 'expert'

You've obviously never played the game. If you kill somebody, they don't get back up. If you leave the immediate area, they disappear. If you wait around, an ambulance will come and cart off the bodies.

Additionally, the very first mission of Assassin's Creed has you murdering an innocent civilian.

i don't get what the big deal is.

i also find it laughable that it would be suggested that this was to stir up controversy to sell copies of the game. it's was one of the best selling games of 2007.

What's the point of killing unarmed civilians? This should just be a cut scene and nothing more.

Did you play Call of Duty 4? What's the point of controlling an unarmed character who gets dragged out and then executed? Maybe they're going for an immersive gaming experience.

a fantasy action game designed for intense, realistic game play that mirrors real life conflicts, much like epic, action movies

Well, the video was removed.

Are they killing russians or arabs?

I think some people will talk about this part, but when they learn that the terrorists are not killing americans they will stop caring.

I'm not against it, but it does seem a bit odd... I don't remember ever playing the role of the bad guy in the first MW, do you?

If I recall, it was one of the best selling of all time.

Really? I've had Nico beat civilians to death to grab their cash or car. I've had Nico shoot civilians in the head at point blank range.

My two proudest moments were having Nico passive-aggressively harrass a civilian woman walking along the boardwalk 1) only to start a * apb, have the cops show up, the civilian get run over by the cop and die in the ensuing fire fight with the cops and 2) by repeatedly bumping another civilian woman, walking over her, tea bagging her for 20 minutes until she gave up and jumped into the river to die.

Who cares? It's no different than GTA3 years ago when you could bang a prostitute than bash her brains in with a baseball bat to take your money back.

Two totally different games. Call of duty is trying to make a realistic war game.

But then again it is kind of an oxymoron for a game developer to make a serious fps game and then have online multiplayer which is about having fun killing your online opponents.

Re: Activision announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Guess the ESRB rating describes exactly what's going on in the level everyone's up in arms about. I'll spoil it for those that don't want to know, but it certainly doesn't seem like anything for people to get their panties in a twist over.
Spoiler:
You're an undercover Ranger that's there when the shit goes down and you can choose your level of involvement. The game doesn't force you to mow down any innocents, so I really don't see how this is any different than GTA IV, Fallout 3 or any other game that lets you make moral decisions about killing innocent people.

^^ Very cool actually. Isn't this similar to Splinter Cell in a way?

Re: Activision announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

shit, my amazon pre-order says "estimated ship date of 11/16"

I did free supersaver shipping, so perhaps that is why....although I don't see an option for "game day release" when I try to change the shipping option. I suppose the date isn't firm, but should I expect it on or near release day w/super saver shipping or should I bother upgrading to a faster shipping option? Or cancel and re-do the pre-order and hope the receive on release day option is available?

MW2 is gonna be awesome because No one liked cod 1, 2, or 3. i never even knew there was a Call of Duty series until the fourth game and it was awesome. WaW was pretty good but not as good as Cod4 So i guess Mw2 will be the best there ever was unless they makw Mw3 which is just too much.

alright. I cancelled and re-placed the order using the "get on release day" option (6 bones) but I'll at least get it on release day.....

You might want to think about getting Amazon Prime. It's pricey ($80), but it gives you free release date shipping, you never pay for shipping for any item sold by Amazon and you can share it with four others, which means it's not only easy to send presents to everyone on you list, but you can make the Prime membership itself a useful gift for your immediate family. My mother and sister use it all the time off my membership.

Re: Activision announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Canceled my Prestige Edition and reordered the REG at Amazon (don't really need the NVG)

The $20 Coupon Code off a future game purchase seems like a good deal.

It's got online co-op but not through the main game, it will have co-op missions set up like the "Mile High Club" mission that was unlocked when you beat COD4.

Agreed but, will it outsell Halo 2 or Halo 3?

8.43 million for Halo 2 and 10.3 million for Halo 3. COD:MW had 7.87 million. I'd say it has a good chance at beating both since the awareness is probably at an all time high.
