yeah, I seen that the other day, freaking amazing looking considering its not a professional studio doing it. I been following along on their blog and they are freaking talented.

Wow. I can't believe it is finally almost done. I remember reading about this mod three years ago, but I wrote it off as yet another over-ambitious mod that would never actually happen. Too bad it didn't come out sooner when I still cared about gaming (see my last post in the Fallout thread if you really care about my not caring about gaming any longer).
Anyway, it is amazing how good the Source engine still looks considering it is a "last-gen" engine that is over four years old now.

The Black Mesa mod is being made because many fans wanted Half-life: Source to be a complete remake using all the features of the Source Engine including the new models and textures which is what Half-life: Source should have been.

Kind of like this other team that's changing the texture models for the HL:Source version:

I gave up waiting on it because it was taking too freaking long. They're probably still working on redesigining the crates for the last two years! At some point, you've just got to realize that a release date in 2018 really isn't very beneficial to anyone.
Still, I'll believe this one when I see it. Hope it does happen though. That looked really amazing and actually has me more excited about a mod than the release date of HL2:Ep 3!

I've been waiting for this to come out, since I've never actually played the original half-life. I had written it off too though, since I think I first read about it a couple years ago. Hope it comes out soon.

I'm another who never played Half-life. I started to play it when HL2 came out but the graphics were unbearable. I may have to try it again once this mod is completed. Looks good so far. I'd like to see some gameplay video though. All I've seen so far is screen shots.

Half Life was the subject of this week's 1UP Retronauts and has me going back to finish it. It is a really long game for a FPS and I still have at least half of it to go. I will play it again though if this mod finally gets released.

Its Duke Nukem Forever syndrome for me. When DNF was first announced, I was excited as apeshit. When it finally released a decade later, I couldn't care less. Same thing with Black Mesa Source.
Edit to add: I just read that destructoid link. They say the final part of the game that takes place on the alien planet Xen isn't there. So the freaking mod still isn't finished. What's the point of playing it if you only get 2/3 of the game.

Yes, Counter-Strike: Source was faithful to the original Counter-Strike because it was a straight port with only a few of the Source Engine features added. It still used the old models and textures from the original game.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was made because many fans wanted Counter-Strike: Source to be a complete remake using all the features of the Source Engine including the new models and textures which is what Counter-Strike: Source should have been.

This finally got released on Steam under early access
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/idWgjdz0ABI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I never buy early access games but I might finally break my rule. It's close to being finished (Xen still missing) and they've been putting out updates to fix issues.
The Modders also started an AMA right now:

"Early Access" for a mod announced in 2008.
Looks cool, though.

Let's not forget that they had released an earlier iteration of this mod for free. Actually, I had always assumed that free release was the finished product. Which is why this thread bump confused the heck out of me.
Also, now that I think of it, I own both Half Life games and have yet to play them.

The mod was first announced with a teaser trailer in 2005. This thread just wasn't created until 2008.
And as I said in post #13 from way back in 2012 the Xen levels weren't yet in the mod, and from what I understand right now in 2015 the Xen levels still aren't there. It's been 10 years since this mod was first announced and it's still not done.
