Shaun White Snowboarding

Anyone pick this up? I saw the Target "exclusive" version yesterday and thought about picking it up for the 360. Looks cool, but I haven't heard much about it...

I'm still waiting for a proper, real sequel to SSX3.

Me too. SSX3 was my favorite game on the PS2. I was hoping this would be good. But the reviews are pretty brutal. The highest score I've seen so far is a 7.9 from GameTrailers:

The reviews for the Wii version have been pretty good with the balance board control, might actually pick it up.

I rented the 360 version on Sunday. I regret my decision to do so. The game sucks ass. I played for 2-3 hours Monday morning and wanted to break the disc in half because it annoyed me so much. I'm going to give it a second chance because some people on forums have been saying that the second time you play it is a lot better than the first, but we'll see. Racing down four mountains collecting coins is not fun, especially when there are only 3-4 per mountain and the controls are HORRENDOUS. The game also has a terrible framerate, the graphics suck and there isn't much of a sense of speed.

I didn't like how they said in the review that you can't increase your attributes. I always liked the way the gameplay would gradually evolve in these games as you added to your abilities, and you could jump higher or grind longer due to better balance.

I was considering getting this when it goes down in price, maybe because I really want a new extreme sports game and I didn't care for the Skate demo I played. Now I'm not so sure. It seems like the genre just died. I don't think we're even getting the annual Tony Hawk game this year, if anyone cares. I guess people just got sick of Tony Hawk and it took down extreme sports with it.

Is anyone's still interested in getting this game, it's currently the Amazon Deal Of The Day. $19.95 for the 360 and $29.95 for the Wii.

For $20, I'm willing to give it a chance. Hopefully it will exceed my very low expectations.

Re: Shaun White Snowboarding

I know the last post is from 9 months ago or so, but my buddy hyped this game up so much I decided to give it a shot (rental). Christ, what a frustrating game. I rented Skate 2 last week and I thought that was frustrating, but man, SW is horrible. The controls are especially bad, and the coin collecting doesn't make sense, and it's a bitch. I agree with the above post about not being able to increase you abilities, because damn, it seems like I'm too slow and can't jump high/far enough for some of these challenges. Seems like I'm 0-3 with Velvet Assassin, Skate 2, and this crapfest
