I personally don't like the full album packs. Seems like there is always a couple of songs, regardless of the band, that I don't like that much. I'd much rather have a greatest hits pack. At least RB lets you select individual songs.

Since I can't sing nor play drums, it's going to have to be guitar and, thanks to Visions, only on Medium - everything else I could get through on Hard :(

Only have my wireless LP so I'm going to have to pop fresh, non-rechargeable batteries in first thing.

God I hope my lameness pays off in an elite 25 e-peen points.

Good luck on it...especially playing guitar on medium.

After getting used to playing on Hard and many songs on Expert, going back to Medium really really sucks. I know cause I played that stupid Harmonix Independent 9 song marathon that has Visions in it on Medium yesterday...and I was bored as hell. The note charts on Medium are just so sparse and lifeless.

And I don't understand how I can 5 star Visions on Medium and not even get past 15% on Hard.

Fucking assholes.

True, but at least most of the album packs are discounted, so it's like getting a few tracks free. I like the way it's done now--pick and choose or a discount for the whole album.
Only things I don't like is that there's no discount for buying a pack of 80 point tracks; and if you buy single tracks, then later decide to buy the whole album, you basically buy some tracks twice. On the one album i"ve bought (Priest), I've rediscovered some good songs.
I don't think I'd like them to replace albums with Greatest Hits packs, unless it's based on an actual Greatest Hits album. They always leave out a couple songs I'd like to see.
As a medium player, I agree, some of the Medium charts are sparse. I'm starting to play Hard, at least on bass, and only on single songs so far (I'd hate to bomb out in the last part of a four song set or something). I thought the bass chart for the Lacuna Coil song was pretty good, especially once I got into the song.
I don't know if I'll get Feelgood, I'm about Crue'd out, though there are some great tracks on that. I might get the RHCP, I like playing bass and I really like the 'seven free songs' thing--plus between the two recent points promotions, I've got about 800 free points.

I agree with this. HMX should take a few more cues from Apple and iTunes, and offer a 'discount' if you wanna buy a full album after buying a single from it. 160 points for one, 320 for two, etc.

I don't know if MS or Sony have any way for HMX to do this. I'm sure they'd be all for it, but I don't think either Marketplace is set up to handle that.

Yay! Unlocked the Endless Setlist.

28/84 (conventional lover) through now. BORING! I'm sitting down, hope y'all don't mind.

Well it took less than a month.... the kick pedal on my ION set broke.

For those of you that have it, be wary of the silver metal piece screwed to the underside of the actual pedal that makes contact with the sensor (it's shaped like a "T" and is bent upwards at a 45 degree angle). Mine snapped off just past the base of the pedal where it was screwed on (basically, the part that sticks out). I really wasn't using it any harder than you should. I have a few songs where I stomp it kinda hard, but for the most part, I'm pretty gentle with it.

It looks like a fairly easy fix (hopefully). I just need to fashion another piece with some sheet metal and screw it back in. I'm going to contact ION about it on Monday to make them aware that the metal they are using is too thin and see if they can send a new piece.

I just hope that the sheet metal that I'm going to use doesn't bend out of shape. It may be a bit too plyable. The metal ION used was really thin but didn't have any "give" when trying to bend it.

Couldn't you play through 8 songs on hard/expert then save and quit on Visions and then jump back in and set it to Medium to finish it up?

So that was more endurance than difficult. Actually, it doesn't feel like 6 hours, but having the OU-Texas game on didn't hurt, I'm sure.

The middle third is the most enjoyable.

I damn near failed Battery because my green fret is fucked. It's like I'm getting hit with the "broken string" attack in GH3. It just stops responding and I have to pound on it to get it to light up on the screen again. Then it works fine for a while. That green-heavy riff nearly did me in and then Visions as the next song, I only got 4 stars. I was a **** hair away. Just dropped one too many notes to break the combo :(

Oh well, I've got the stupid thing and now I can move on to other games again.

IGN reviews Dr. Feelgood and according to them it's not good. I think these guys are clueless.

Congrats. My green fret on the Les Paul did the same thing. I cracked open the neck and did the DIY fix and it's worked great ever since.

Yeah, I stopped reading it when they said to pass on Kicksart My Heart because time had forgotten it. -screwy-

I don't think you can save and quit in the middle of a set. Correct me if I am wrong. If you play any song on Medium it appear that it tags it as that and starts showing the entire tour on medium even if the majority is played on Hard which is bullshit.

You can save and quit on the challenges. I also understand that if you do one song on a lower difficulty the whole challenge will be tagged at that difficulty. However, it sure beats playing through 8 songs that are boring on medium. Sure you'll get the medium tag anyway, but at least you'll have fun doing it.

I've always had problems with my red fret dropping and am working on getting rid of the POS board in the neck and wiring everything straight through. I'd eventually want to put the Strat's workings inside a Les Paul body, ditching the tilt sensor altogether and putting the effects switch in and the solo buttons where regular buttons would be for tapping solos, and I'd go into people's houses at night and wreck up the place! Mwahaha!

What songs from Rock Band 1 can't be ported over to RB2?

100% agreed. I don't own a single album where I like playing every song. Something like the Who or Boston packs are the only way to go.

...And the Boston pack would've been an album if they had a master of that last track. Still saying the same thing now?

Albums just work for some people, and not for others. That's why they choose to split them into singles as well. It's the best of both worlds. I'm sure as time goes on, we'll be getting the other "hits" from most of the artists that have already been featured, as well as tons of new bands showing up as well.

I like albums over best-of's 'cause in the latter case we would only have Pull Me Under instead of Constant Motion and Panic Attack which are pretty damn amazing songs. It's always refreshing listening to an artist that you've come to enjoy (chartwise or audibly) and finding another song that's fun to play. I've ever been big enough into RHCP to buy BSSM though I do own Californication and Stadium Arcadium, but I'm liking the random tracks off of it that get thrown into setlists in BWT. Putting up Peace Sells... instead of Rust In Peace was ridiculous to me but it's a blast getting anything off that album when you think you're safe doing a Challenging Mystery Setlist.

Sidenote: We're going for ESL2 today, so get your baby equipment out as your virgin daughters' wombs are going to fill when we complete it with my telepathic midichlorian immaculate hymen-bypassing sperm travelling through both space and time

I was planning on doing this and looking in there. Got a link to the DIY fix or a quick description of what to look for? Top of my head, I'm expecting "dirty" contacts or something.

Paranoid (GH III)
Enter Sandman (GH Metallica)
Run to the Hills (Rock Revolution, and most likely RB2 later on)

Thanks for answering my question. So basically this particular Metallica song will probably never appear in RB2?

Good job. I did this on Saturday. It wasn't that bad, although after completing "Eye of the Tiger" it is a little intimidating to see "Song 1 of 84" complete.

I'm going to start moving up to hard now.

Never say never I guess, but I wouldn't expect it for awhile.

Either way, those 3 songs, especially with the parenthesis of where they are located elsewhere, don't justify holding onto the first RB disc. IMO.
