That's not sad. "So Watcha Want" is the only song I will probably ever be able to Gold Star.

Again, I'm not asking about the SCORE!

I know it's going to be high with a 4 person band. All this has been asking how you can have so few fans. I got 900k fans about halfway through the regular songs (unless I'm misremembering), so THAT is what I'm not understanding. How you can have both a high total score (meaning that you have played at least all the songs) AND have only 900k fans.

I guess it doesn't matter, since y'all keep focusing on the wrong part of my question .

Yes, a million points.

Michael Corvin 09-18-08 10:22 PM

Well I pulled three of the flawless achievements today.

Bass: So What'cha Want - what a fucking joke. This is the Avatar of Rock Band achievements.

Vocals: So What'cha Want - again. Wow.

Guitar: Charlene - short and sweet. Took about three tries.

So what's a good song for drums? Charlene?

We only played in the first and second venues of each city, as the third doesn't have new songs and we wanted to unlock them all first. Nearly every two-song Make A Setlist had Hello There in it just because it was short.

Oh, and we sold out. A lot. Quad cash? Sure! $25 more but no fans? Why not? I figure as soon as we pass the million mark, our fans are gonna skyrocket, but that doesn't help me buy tons of cool stuff.

I snagged the flawless guitar achievement. I made a 3 song setlist:

Charlene-nope
So What'cha Want?-nope
Roxanne-success!!!

I also got the impossible guitar achievement. I actually went from expert to hard for it. What a joke. It is SOOOoooo slow compared to expert. I actually missed alot of notes by hitting early since I've always played expert. Hard actually let's you know ahead of time what notes to hit, where as expert just let's it flow. I'm glad I don't have to play easy & medium for any achievements...that would be a slow & painful death.

Just unlocked the tour bus and I am digging the variety of songs.

I still haven't done any of the online challenges or anything because I am still unsure how they work. Can I do a battle of the bands on-line if I just do vocals or do I have to join an existing band?

And yes..I named my band Trashy Lingerie. I wish I could make the other "band members" look the part! LOL

Go ahead and customize 3 other band members. You can then put them on your roster in the profile section. I have an all girl band right now. However, I noticed that the money that you earn is specific to that character. Money is not shared among the members.

So nobody agrees about too much cowbell? Maybe I'm the only one doing solo vox on metal tunes.

Yes sir. Probably your best bet if you want the easiest/quickest time with it.

Anyone have any help on a song suggestion for the 90 continuous seconds of Overdrive? -eek-

bee_01 09-19-08 04:07 AM

Got the game today and I have my first gripe: a band (You'll Never Beat This Score, or something similar to that) bottom feeding in all of the battles so that you always see them on your first attempt. Lame.

I haven't gotten that one but I seem to remember Foreplay/Long Time(Boston) having a long stretch where it may be possible.

The rest of us are cowbell snobs.

Go to the mall.

Okay. We haven't even played all of the songs yet. By the time we ended our session, we still had just unlocked most of the top tier songs, and haven't played many (besides Painkiller & Panic Attack). I'm not sure if DLC gets added in to your Total Score (I believe it does), and some mystery sets were completely DLC.

I think there's Career Score (on disc) and Total Score (including DLC). At least that's what I remember CptUnderpants saying at one point.

IMO, Nine in the Afternoon is the epitome of easy drumming in the game, it is the Say It Ain't So of the game but easier. Charlene works too.

So What'cha Want is a blast to play with friends (it's fun as hell to sing, even though you aren't really rated on anything in it), but agreed there is no challenge in it.

We got it on Today. Play a 3 or 4 person band and just activate right when the other guy is running out. It takes a little bit of coordination, but we got it on our first try.

I doubt people are doing this on purpose - they probably just aren't that good. On your friends list, depending on skills, you'll probably see the same band over and over again the first time, but that's just for the ones who always finish low...I doubt anyone is TRYING to finish so poorly just to show up on YOUR screen once...I'd rather go for a HIGH SCORE personally...

Those ScoreHero people are crazy. They try to pinpoint star cutoffs (down to the point), they'll try to get the lowest points without failing. Hell, there was even a guy on the GH side of things who would try to get a specific number of points per song. Someone would say "Hey, get 112,347 points on X song" and he'd do it.

I also got this message after I accidentally played on Medium for a song - stupid difficulty always reverting to Medium when you first start. Would be nice to set default difficulties for each instrument on your profile. Mine would look like G-H, B-X, D-M, V-E

I'm currently at 900,000 fans exactly and the last song I played it literally said "No Change" at the end of the gig for fans. I hope that was just a one-off, otherwise I need to back to all the skipped Make a Setlists on Expert - or change my staff member. I'm currently using a guy that's supposed to double my fans won or lost.

pinata242 09-19-08 08:31 AM

Anybody want to get together tonight for a couple of achievements? I'd love to get the 1M points, 8x OD, and 90-second OD ones and I don't think I'll be able to do that locally or randomly for a while.

Michael Corvin 09-19-08 08:40 AM

I'd be down pinata. What difficulty do you play on?

pinata242 09-19-08 08:45 AM

I'm comfortable with mid-Expert. Once I start to get into the upper 1/3 of the setlist, it kinda falls apart. I can pass, but usually 3 or 4*.

Bass goes further.

lordwow 09-19-08 08:49 AM

I played a custom setlist last night of "Living on a Prayer/More Than A Feeling/Any Way You Want It" and I felt like a real rock star.

Sounds like we're on the same level then.

I've stuck to Hard in RB2 thus far though until I get comfortable with the songs. I've five starred everything so far except for Alive by Pearl Jam which I missed by a hair.

pinata242 09-19-08 09:10 AM

I've backed down to Hard recently and it's quite an adjustment. Everything comes just a touch slower, it seems. I end up strumming faster than I need to.

Nothing like when I accidentally went Medium on one song, though. That was BOORRRRING!

The speed difference on drums between expert and hard is insane, hard seems like it crawls half the time.

I can promise you that when there's THOUSANDS of bands entering every event, and there's one that manages to show up as the lowest score in every battle, it's intentional.

One of the battles is scored based on your longest bass note streak. Their score was 2. TWO NOTES.

HAHAHA! So the bass plays on easy and the other members keep saving him when necessary.

Can you fail 2x safely in each song in the set? If you are failed at the end of one song, are you still out at the start of the next?

2 notes! hahah!

Shit - I thought you just meant off your friends list... but a note streak of 2 - yeah, that's either on purpose or a retarded monkey was playing...

lordwow 09-19-08 09:23 AM

I wonder if you stick 100 monkeys in a room for 100 years with Rock Band, if eventually one of them will FC Bodhisvatta...

edstein 09-19-08 09:27 AM

"Silver" on easy drums can be passed with no notes hit and no fail I believe.

To get your name out there, it's fun to make an impact one way or another and if you can't make it to the top, the bottom is your next best chance.

It is. I don't really see the point of the exercise either except to say you can do it.

I got vocals and bass yesterday too. I got bass on Charlene. I got vocals on So Wat'cha Want, which was a total joke. I just said "nama nama nama na" through the whole song. 100% gold star. I got perfect guitar on We Got the Beat the other day. The only thing I have left is drums. I always miss a note or two somewhere.

Well...I know there was an issue a few days ago with the person doing it having a picture of a big ol' penis for their band logo. So I guess his point was to expose as many people to his image as possible. I'm guessing he got shut down though.

As for BotB being against your friends list, that hasn't been the case from my experience.
