That sounds logical, but how do you 'promote' them to full fledged members?

GoVegan 09-28-08 07:43 PM

Just click on their names - like for your bassist, highlight the name on the left, where it says "sub," then select it. It'll ask if you really want them to be a band member - just say "yes."

jdpatri 09-28-08 08:05 PM

I played Rock Band 2 today! Woohoo. They thought they could stop me, but they couldn't!

(Okay I played Eye of the Tiger in Best Buy... with no sound... and I'm pretty sure it was on Easy because I couldn't strum slow enough to hit the damn things. I quit after seven seconds.)

Liver&Onions 09-28-08 09:03 PM

Just played Spoonman for the first time, in the Drum Solo challenge. Damn that song is fun! However, they totally put the drum solo section too early. The section right after where it currently is much more deserving of the "solo" title IMO.

Awesome. Thanks vegan.

I just played Spoonman for the first time last night, except on guitar. That song is damn fun to play.

I got a question... I created a few characters for my friends in anticipation of a get-together we were having this past weekend.

When they came over, I logged them into a few spare user names I have on my XBox. When we went to Band World Tour, those names were not selectable for them. Only for me. Do I have to create one character for each user name? Or did they just have to not be logged in at all?

Music 09-29-08 12:46 AM

The characters you created under your account are only selectable under your account.

You would of had to log in under each of the other accounts and create a character under each.

Music 09-29-08 12:48 AM

Yeah, this game still does not treat bass as a separate instrument like the other 3... which is the same "problem" it had in Rock Band 1.

So in your last screenshot, it is detecting your bass stand-in character as a guitarist and it replaced your guitarist stand-in instead of using the bass spot like you would want.

Looking at the leaderboards, once again, there is no career leaderboard for bass.

Haven't seen this question answered in this thread or the GH:WT thread....

If you were going to buy RB and GH for the first time (Xbox), would you go with the equipment for GH:WT or RB2? I know they are supposed to be compatible, and given that the release dates are only a few days apart, I was thinking of getting the full kit for one and then just buying the game for the other one.

Now that I think about it some more, I will need to get a 2nd guitar eventually, so I guess I could get away with having just one from each game. Assuming that doesn't limit me too much, I guess I just want to know which drum kit is better.

tonyc3742 09-29-08 07:23 AM

We were actually able to get that to work this weekend...I'm not sure how. My wife made two characters for some friends, under her profile, then we went into both Local Tour and Band Quickplay, and we were able to choose them as the additional members.
The friends, however, did not have gamertags, so they were logged in to the 360 as "player 2" and "player 3".

There's a specific thread floating around about RB2 vs. GH:WT. It's probably on page 2 or 3.

From what I've read, the GH:WT kit will have the better gear, so I'm going with that.

I'm sure it will, but it is still unclear how the drums will work in RB since there are only 3 pads(+ 2 cymbols) and the color pads are in a different order.

I know - I'm waiting to see how that is handled as well, but I still have my RB1 kit to keep me going just in case.

dvdsteve2000 09-29-08 10:06 AM

I didn't want to start a thread for this question...

If you get achievement points offline (XBL is down today), will they reflect on your total when live is back up & running? I'm assuming they do, but I'm off today & I planned on making a run at some of the drumming achievements (I'm not a drummer at all) but I didn't want to do them if I'd have to do them over again.

pinata242 09-29-08 10:10 AM

Yes, the only difference between online and offline is that you won't have a date associated with the unlocked achievements because your 360 can't confirm "when it is" in relation to everyone else.

Mad Dawg 09-29-08 02:04 PM

Dear lord in heaven. I just beat Visions on guitar. I can't even say I beat it, as much as I flailed and mushed buttons, grabbed OD at the break, then went back to flailing. The fact that the song, as much as I dislike it, is in the game doesn't bother me. The fact that it is so unfun, yet a requirement to finish the game bothers me a lot. I mean, Painkiller, Panic Attack, Bodhisattva...all very difficult but fun on some level. Visions...not in the least.

pinata242 09-29-08 02:08 PM

On expert? I hit that on hard for the first time yesterday and couldn't break 11% before failing. It doesn't help that it sounds like absolute shit.

I watched the expert guitar chart about an hour ago and it doesn't make any sense to me.

Sir, I salute you.

aktick 09-29-08 02:14 PM

At least those thrash (or whatever the hell they are considered) songs aren't required to get through most of the BWT. Other than the endless setlist, they are pretty easy to avoid, at least so far for me. I don't like playing that stuff even if the charts are considered fun. If I don't like listening to a song, I just don't enjoy playing it.

Yeah, on expert, but I'm not proud of my accomplishment. It's just note vomit, and there was no skill involved in my passing it. Just sheer luck. They need to get a patch out ASAP to let us kill that song in-game. I know I have zero chance of ever passing it again. Just glad I wasn't in Quickplay.

Does anyone know when the new RB2 website is launching with all of the new features they've been talking about, i.e. posing characters, ordering real world items and the like? I thought I read somewhere that it was supposed to be up last week, or at least an announcement of it coming soon.

Liver&Onions 09-29-08 02:24 PM

Played Jagged Gorgeous Winter last night - damn, that was a relaxing song to play on hard drums. I REALLY enjoyed it. More like this please.

Post that on the Rock Band forums and you'll get eviscerated for complaining about the "best song in the game" that keeps the "losers" from getting their achievements  It's a POS imo.

Yeah, I think the guy leading said last week that it'd now be a little over a week before it goes live. So I'm guessing early next week.

Cool. Thanks for the update.

Last post was on 9/12 and my forum settings only show the last 10 days. Thanks!

I'll see if I can find any new GH drum reviews. I'll bump that thread if I do find any.

Mok 09-29-08 03:18 PM

Cool finally won the stride give away, now if I could only redeem it

pinata242 09-29-08 03:18 PM

I know how to redeem it. Give it to me.
