Bogus message on XBLive

There has been a bogus message going around XBL about 800 free points. The message says:

guys, microsoft is giving away ms points for microsoft day. i just got 800 and bought some arcade games. go check it out www.microsoftday./xbox_mspoints.html

chainsawpup (CKMorpheus) just chatted with me to ask about it, and it showed up as a message from me. I never sent it to him. I received the message from my son (living in the same house), and he got it from me as well. I also received the same message from two of my friends that don't even have computers. I received this message about a month ago as well. I did check the site & it was a dead link. Somehow it is spamming people's friend's lists. Avoid it.

I think I read it's a way for hackers to get into your account. You sign in to collect the points and bamm, they've got ya.

Thanks! I went to the site and downloaded the toolbar and it should give me the 800 points soon enough.

Well I signed in to whatever it is (before we talked; I know stupid me) and realized it was probably bogus. So I changed my Windows Live ID and password forthwith.

I don't get how the messages are being sent from/by people that know nothing about this. I got 2 more today, and my one buddy got one from me after I got one from him. I wasn't even home all day.

I would change your password. Go to your username, Account Management, Windows Live ID, and then I think you can change your password from there.
