Put some time into Ikaruga last night. Dropped it to Easy, with continues and lowered the bar to gain extra lives and still couldn't finish level 3. On the plus side, you still gain achievements even if you tinker with the settings.
The light/dark mechanics of the game is genius.

Here's a video feature of next week's Splosion Man. Looks like an absolute must-buy now, especially at 800 points. It looks much tougher than I thought, but a lot of fun nevertheless.

Corvin, if you haven't bought Worms 2 yet, the jamacan on ebay is selling the codes for $5. He's very reliable and that's a HELL of a good deal on a very good xbla game.

That's cool, I've never seen an early XBLA demo for Gold Members. Great idea. Now give us Shadow Complex early!
I wonder if the reported price was wrong or whether this new price was a mistake (like Lode Runner).

I've been going back to Magic quite often.
I have Green and Red decks unlocked 100%, with Green/Black, and Black close behind.
A friend and I have managed to play some co-op twice and have four matches left. They really need a patch for online co-op and two-headed giant. I can use all my unlocked decks, but even on my console, when my friend signs in as a guest is stuck with the Green and Red decks. He's been unlocking a few cards for them as we play through, but unless I let him sit down on a guest profile and play through single player on his own, he's stuck with limited options. I really regret not letting Wizards/Stainless have it with more vigor in my review as its one of the biggest sappers of fun from the game.

We asked the President of Playbrains, Scott Simpson, on why he thinks Microsoft changed the price. Seems all of the Internet’s b*tching may have had a helping hand in this decision:
I think they saw a lot of the "Madballs for $15? WTF?!??" reactions and figured at 800 we'd at least get a trial (and we do have a great trial).

I guess internet bitching and moaning does pay off!

Yeah. I know "Not as bad as I imagined" is hardly a rave, but the game isn't terrible. The controls take a while to get used to and aiming is a pain in the ass, but still I guess the game has some potential. I do hate the ever repeating 3 second vocal clips though. If that's all you're capable of, then drop voice altogether. This isn't a Sega Genesis; the sound should be better than that.
And am I alone in thinking that's WAY too much story exposition in a game that features rolling eyeballs firing shotguns.

File this under "WTF", but stealth XBLA announcement:
Tour de France 2009: The Official Game pedals onto Xbox Live
Forget about watching the seemingly infinite amount of stages roll by as Lance Armstrong attempts to win his eighth yellow jersey in the world's most famous bicycle race. Do it yourself! And by yourself we mean using nothing more than your fingers and thumbs when Tour de France 2009: The Official Game comes to Xbox Live today for 800 ($10) . Who needs all that real legwork anyhow?
Cyanide Studios, the brains behind the recent Blood Bowl and the popular-in-some other country Cycling Manager series must have been quietly working on this in their spare time, because it caught all of us off-guard, including Xbox Live's Major Nelson. But why not release this game just before the actual Tour de France, instead of smack dab in the middle of it? We may never know.
You can play two players locally, and race up to four simultaneously on Xbox Live using one of the official teams in the current race. We just wish they would have included a drug testing minigame or something -- you know, to add some realism. Catch all the pedal-pumping power in the preview trailer right here.
NEVER saw that one coming. Must be a really crappy game to be tossed out like that. (As opposed to all the great cycling games we're used to seeing on XBLA)
