Yeah, that's a entirely different pack. That's a PopCap games compilation.

I Dunno about that. Zuma is great, I enjoy Astropop, and Feeding Frenzy is relaxing in a strange way. And Bejeweled is a fine addition to that too.

I agree. There's not a bad game in that bunch. It's just that I already have Bejeweled 2 in the other Arcade compilation, Astropop from that piece of crap Mad Catz Arcade Stick and I bought Zuma for 400 points after the price drop. For someone with none of those games, it's probably a pretty good deal.

pinata242 09-16-08 11:53 AM

Whoa. I had to make sure I didn't post what Decker wrote there. That's exactly my story.

Michael Corvin 09-16-08 12:55 PM

360Voice wasn't around when the 360 launched, but if it was, Zuma would be in my top 5 most played games. I played that shit every night for about six months.

Decker 09-17-08 02:41 PM

I gotta say, for a simple game, Feeding Frenzy 2 is pretty fun. My daughter likes it as well, so it's nice that we'll be able to play co-op. It doesn't set the world on fire or anything, and really seems very similar to FF1, but still it's probably worth a purchase for me.

Dominoes looked kinda cheep and cheesy. Maybe I'm not too up on the rules, but it seemed really restrictive to me as far as where I was allowed to place the next domino. Anyway, I think most folks will come to the conclusion that this game is overpriced at 800 points -- it certainly doesn't have anywhere near the presentation of Chessmaster, that's for sure.

RichC2 09-17-08 02:46 PM

I haven't looked on there yet, but is Mexican Train one of the modes for the Dominoes game? That'd be fun online...

shumway 09-17-08 02:52 PM

My sister and her husband's family love to play a game called chicken foot, I believe.

Yes it is. I tried it but had no idea how to play it.

Sweet!

Mexican Train is a pretty simple game.

Your Track is Open: Anyone can play a dominoe on this track. Close your track by playing a piece on it.

Your Track is Closed: Only you can play a dominoe on this track, if you can't play a dominoe on your turn (either your track or any other open track), you draw one, still can't play? Your track becomes open.

Your first move of course has to match the piece in the center, ie - double 15s, so the first piece you play needs at least one 15 on it.

It pretty much builds from there, if you have your track closed you basically get to build from there and organize your pieces. If you can't, it becomes open and the other players can wreck havoc on it. It sounds kind of dumb but it is a good deal of fun. IRL, the game goes on forever as you start the first round with the highest double you have (usually double 15s) and work your way down to double 1s, so around 15 rounds of it, low score wins, your score is based on the pieces you have left when the game is won or no more plays can be made.

Decker 09-17-08 10:25 PM

Thanks for the explanation. I'll give it another try now. There are five different game modes in the game; three are available in the demo, which is pretty generous.

Michael Corvin 09-18-08 06:29 AM

I gave the Feeding Frenzy 2 demo a try. I think I might get it for the co-op alone.

dan30oly 09-18-08 09:39 PM

I logged in after work today to find a whole bunch of free videos available on-line (HD as well).

I don't recall all of them, but there was at least an episode of Heroes, Monk, Psych, Battlestar Galactica, and the new Knight Rider.

Decker 09-24-08 05:24 PM

New announcement for next week. Not only will the XBLA finally get Mega Man 9 (a full week after the Wii), but as it turns out an original title as well (for consoles, at least).

War World comes out 10/1.

Here's the IGN preview.

<embed src='http://videomedia.ign.com/ev/ev.swf' flashvars='object_ID=949433&downloadURL=http://xboxlivemovies.ign.com/xboxlive/video/article/912/912903/X360_warworld3_092308_flvlowwide.flv&allownetworking="all"' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='433' height='360' ></embed>

I don't know, it looks kinda crappy, but could still be fun.

Anyone get Duke Nukem 3D yet? Any impressions of the online play?

Liver&Onions 09-24-08 05:28 PM

I'm still waiting for Hoopworld :(

Michael Corvin 09-24-08 07:35 PM

I'm waiting for Lode Runner and Peggle(to see what the fuss is about).

fumanstan 09-24-08 07:45 PM

Peggle's pretty fun, but it got old for me pretty quickly and the levels that came with the Orange Box on PC was enough for me, not another 800 pts on Live.

RichC2 09-24-08 08:02 PM

I wore Peggle out... on my iPod Classic.

Yeah, me too. For $5 it's a pretty good deal -- and one of the only games (along with Zuma) that works properly with an ipod "controller".

And Corvin, you can see what the fuss is about right here.

It seems there's a new game -- Peggle Nights. I wonder if that will be included in the XBLA game whenever it finally comes out.

I got it this morning and played through the first episode. It ported over very well. I had a blast. It reminded me of my college days, playing it on my $3000 Packard Bell PC. I haven't tried online yet but over on xbox.com they are complaining of some lag. Probably no worse than I experienced on my 28.8 modem back in the day I imagine though.

slop101 09-25-08 02:02 AM

How's the resolution/frame-rate for Duke?

A-aron 09-25-08 09:01 AM

someone wake me if they ever release Scrabble for XBL

That is something the wife and I miss playing from when we used to play on POGO.
