Grid 2 isn't on the PS4...

Other than that, I don't know if any game is cross-gen-system compatible for either system.

No. You play PS3 games on a PS3 and PS4 games on a PS4 (or on a Vita through the PS4). No backwards compatibility.

Even if the game is available on PS+ like that? Or maybe Grid 2 isn't on PS+ for the PS4. Well, a bummer, but that would be a really cool way for friends who are between two generations to still play together.

Plus has 2 games for the PS4, that's it. PS4 can't play PS3 games in any form. Games have to be ported over, and so far the number of games that have done that are very small.

I'm told that DCU Online is.

I didn't realize that Spelunky was a cross buy. Kicking myself for not getting it on sale last week.

Don't. That game has PS Plus Freebie written all over it.

In practical terms, yeah, but I got my kid a Vita for Xmas, and it seems like the sort of thing he would like.

Guess he'll have to settle for the other 15-20 games I put on there for him.

I thought the demo for Spelunky was cool, but I'm not the sort of gamer who takes kindly to making no actual progress after a 40 minute gaming session, so I guess Spelunky wasn't really for me.
I didn't know you had a kid, chess. How old?

He's 15 Decker. We're on a bit of a road trip, so he got the Vita early and is enjoying it. He's actually playing the "free" Sonic Racing right now.

That Sonic game is a solid Kart racing game. I bought it earlier this year for $17 and really enjoyed it

Yeah, it does look pretty good from what I've seen. He'd already played Guacamelee and Rayman Origins, but Sine Mora, Wipeout and Metal Slug have also been hits. He's also getting Tearaway tomorrow.

PS plus really does make a Vita kind of a no-brainer, but I'm a bit miffed that I can't lock down the store or even appear offline when he's playing it.

BTW : anyone with the game Escape Plan be sure to fire it up today or tomorrow for a cool little surprise.

PS Plus Free Games for Jan 2014 have leaked early (thanks to Brett for the heads-up).

In the free games section of the Playstation Plus section of the store there is a promo video for January's games.

PS4: Don't Starve
PS3: DmC, Bioshock Infinite, Brothers
Vita: Smart as..., Worms Battle Islands
Of course since I bought Brothers on the 360 yesterday! We already knew about Don't Starve coming in January. Bioshock Infinite is a surprise though. I've finished that game and think it's great. Excited to try DmC.

I've never played a Worms game. That will be interesting.

Worms was a blast on the Dreamcast & PS1 with local multiplayer. They still are but they haven't evolved much. Online MP isn't quite the same.

haha, so did I. And I just picked up DMC for $10 a couple weeks ago on Amazon. Oh well, I guess I can't really complain when PS+ is kicking ass

Microsoft really needs to wake the fuck up with their shitty selection of monthly free games. Do we know what they are giving away yet next month? Call of Duty 2? Project Gotham 3?

Guacamelee is terrific, played a bunch while out and about this week

PS+ is awesome. The sad part for most of us is that we have already played those amazing games.

But with these amazing games being released every month, I'm actually considering upgrading, my upgraded, 320 GB hard drive. Or maybe I should do a cleanup first.

But at this rate, my digital pile of shame will be bigger in the PS3 than in my PC!

With such a backlog, I don't bother purchasing games as they come out any more. Therefore, I don't end up playing any of the games that come out on PS+ until they show up on the program. I'm behind the times on everything, but since I don't play with anyone else, it doesn't really matter.

Anybody up for some Grid 2 next week?

I played Sine Mora a couple of days ago. I usually don't like SHMUPS, but this has a really cool time system where time us your life. It was pretty cinematic too. I didn't rock my world, but I'll get back to it.

I don't like how Sine Mora forces a wide-screen aspect ratio (I think 2:35) instead of just opening up the top and bottom and filling the 16:9 screen.

I'm game. It's actually really fun. Been playing off and on since it hit Plus. The Demolition Derby mode is cool too.

Holy shit, Bioshock and Brothers...two of the reportedly best games of the year and both on my "to buy" list. And my son should be excited about Worms for his new Vita.

Probably the best month yet for me.
