Good news. PJE is a friggin' beast.

When is that PJ Dungeons coming out?

good to hear about Eden. I hit a brick wall on stage 7, maybe I'll revisit it now.

I hope they do another PJ Monsters personally. I finally rainbowed the entire first island and am almost done with the trophies. I'm trying to space it out so it never ends!

I was reading yesterday they'll be coming out with a new PJ game before Dungeons, so that one might be a while.

Magic Ball (Arkanoid / Breakout-style game) coming today for $10.

Looks pretty fun. I think I'll get this one, especially since it has local multiplayer.

I love Arkanoid too, but you really need something like a track-ball or a paddle controller to get the most out of a game like that.

Chew 01-15-09 10:39 AM

Soooo, another week, another Savage Moon no-show?

Amazingly enough, that Araknoid-like game does look fairly awesome. I might just get that. Now the question is : Is it worth a trip to Target to save $1 on a $20 PSN card?

 I'd say no, unless you are getting other shit while you're there.

And not unless your Target doesn't charge sales tax. I know I was charged tax on the PSN cards I got from Gamestop (using some gift cards).

I don't know if it's a Florida thing or a GameStop thing. I don't pay sales tax on PSN purchases, so I wasn't really surprised when the card was taxed. Regular gift cards aren't taxed, but items bought with them are, so I just thought of it as the reverse of that.

My target charges tax on XBLM cards. Wal-mart across the street does not.

I think it's just a retailer (computer) awareness issue.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

None of it makes sense though. You pay tax on a $20 card and then pay tax again on your game purchase. You're paying tax twice on your game. Something's wrong with that.

^ I'm not charged tax for PSN purchases.

I know this is discussed in the PS3 thread, but I wanted to mention it here : Flower is great. Not exactly a game, but more of a fascinating toy. I think it's just beautiful and mesmerizing. It's as good as flOw was disappointing to me. I love how the PSN is carving a niche out for itself with original quirky games you'd just never see on XBLA. Flower definitely falls in that category.

I liked FlOw for what it was, but this game is leaps and bounds better than their first outing. Between this, my recent online bowling addiction to High Velocity and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection I will using the PS3 almost exclusively for awhile.

 I had no idea you were system neutral(didn't notice the sig). I only see you post in Sony related threads assumed you were PS3 exclusive.

Flower was a game I just had to jump on. I never seem to buy many retail PS3 games but now and then I just have to get a PSN title. Flower was one I figured I would take a chance on. I fear it will be very short but other than that I am really loving the gameplay and visuals.

Decker 02-14-09 01:05 AM

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I hear so much talk of Flower being short, but I don't think that means much in this game. Many games have very limited replay-ability; this one seems to have endless. It's not the conclusion of the game, or even the trophies along the way. This game is all about the experience, and it's a very relaxing and enjoyable one. Hell, if I could only play it once, it would still be worth $10 to me, but this is one of those rare downloadable games that I imagine I'll come back to again and again just to revisit a level. My daughter loves messing around with it as well.

I haven't turned on the Wii in a long while, but have enjoyed the 360. Castle Crashers, Braid and Prince of Persia were a blast to play on the 360 and some of my favorites of 2008. XBL hasn't had much I wanted to play recently though so I have migrated back to the PS3.

As far as PSN is anyone else playing High Velocity Bowling? I hadn't touched it in months and finally started it up and did all the updates. Gave the online component a try and it really hooked me. I have ended up playing it quite a bit the past week or so. It has trophies to get online, but honestly just playing against real people is the fun. I got bored of the single player quickly and didn't do much with it, but the online is great and the bowling is very solid. I'm actually pretty competitive with the worst bowler in the game and the worst bowling ball. I never played the single player long enough to unlock anything decent.
