I know you're just trying to make a joke, but in that case you might as well buy it now since there's little chance of it being less then the $59.99 it currently is in the next couple months on PSN :p

I'm still hoping that poor sales will lead to a early, slight sale at Best Buy

(actually I did pick up the CE from Best Buy -- mostly to get the pre-order bonus prior to returning that puppy. Perhaps Best Buy anticipated that because they never sent me a bonus code. Back it goes now)

That's a good point, for me I knew this is the exact type of game I would want to go digital for rather then have to swap discs.

They gave us I Am Alive instead of Super Stardust HD for the other PS3 PS Plus freebie for March. :hscratch:. Fine by me since I already have SSD HD, but weird to switch it.

I have to admit, BroForce was the one I was least interested in when the vote was announced, but I just spent two hours playing with my son yelling BRO at him and I can't wait to do it again.

Man I bought both those games full price in 2008. (The Last Guy release was what prompted me to start this thread in the first place -- see Post #1). If only I had been a little patient and waited eight years, I could have saved twenty bucks!

Anyways, if anyone still has a PS3 and hasn't gotten SSD HD, you're in for a treat. All these years later and I still think it might be the best twin-stick shooter ever (though Housemarque's later shooters Dead Nation and Resogun do give SSD HD a run for the money). It's a blast; a really fun, accessible arcade-style game. It's also one of the nicest 3D games ever made (even though 3D adds nothing to the gameplay --which is a 2D plane anyway), it really feels like you're zooming around a planets' atmosphere when you watch the game in 3D.

BTW : I Am Alive is no longer free even though it's advertised with a header on the Playstation Plus Free Games page of the PSN Store. I hope those who were interested in it grabbed it in time.

And I can admit when I'm wrong : Broforce is actually a pretty fun and entertaining game. Even though it's brutally difficult.

I got it specifically because you posted about it so thanks.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Both the ps4 free games were a miss for me this month. Didn't care for Broforce, for some reason, my jumps kept feeling like they were off, and I'd end up falling down pits. Galak-z gave off a weird "asteroids" like first impression. Yuk.

Possibly I'd change my mind if I gave them another chance, but that's the problem with free stuff, if it doesn't catch my attention in the first 5 minutes I dump it.

I guess I was fortunate enough to get both I am Alive and Super Stardust. Cool, since I haven't played either one.

Well it looks like Playstation has altered their Spring Fever promotion. Now it's called Launch Party. Still with 10% discounts and free themes with preorders, but no more rebates with multiple purchases. Some nice games though.

Introducing PlayStation Store’s Launch Party: Six Weeks, Six New Games

Posted by Andy Yen on Mar 08, 2016 // Digital Commerce Manager, Sony Network Entertainment

Hi everyone! I’m very excited to announce the inaugural lineup for a new PlayStation Store event called Launch Party. One of the best perks about being on the PlayStation Store team is that we get to work very closely with both first and third party studio teams on previewing upcoming releases. Launch Party is a celebration of our favorite digital games releasing this spring – selected in collaboration with our colleagues on both the 1st and 3rd party teams.
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1562/...1e8ec189_b.jpg

Some of you may remember our yearly Spring Fever campaign, which we’re retiring in name only. We’ll still have great weekly deals on games and movies from your favorite blockbuster franchises (In fact, you can check out this year’s franchise sale lineup right here!), but we really wanted to let the new games have the spotlight with their own event.

Pre-order any Launch Party title from PlayStation Store and not only will you be able to pre-load and play them right when they release, but you’ll also get 10% off.

Note: Pre-orders for the Launch Party lineup are currently in the process of going live on PlayStation Store — if one isn’t working for you yet give it a few minutes!

Launch Party 2016 Lineup

Launch Date Title
(Platform) Publisher Price Pre-Order Price

3/15 Salt and Sanctuary
(PS4) Ska Studios $17.99 $16.19
3/22 Day of the Tentacle Remastered
(PS4/PS Vita)* Double Fine Productions $14.99 $13.49
4/5 Enter the Gungeon
(PS4) Devolver Digital $14.99 $13.49
4/12 Stories: The Path of Destinies
(PS4) Spearhead Games $14.99 $13.49
4/19 Invisible, Inc.
(PS4) Klei Entertainment $19.99 $17.99
4/26 Alienation
(PS4) SCEA $19.99 $17.99

*Cross-Buy title

To speak more in detail about the games and why we think you’ll love them, here is Nick Suttner:

Hello! As Andy said, we’ve been working closely together for months to put together an amazing Launch Party lineup for you, featuring some of the digital games we’ve been most looking forward to. Here’s a bit of background on each, and why you should lock in those pre-order discounts now!

Salt and Sanctuary

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1491/...fa9f2f8c_z.jpg

We’ve admired Ska Studios’ games from afar for years, and we’re so thrilled to have their latest masterpiece debut exclusively on PS4! If you’ve enjoyed games like Bloodborne or Dark Souls you’ll feel right at home in Salt and Sanctuary’s brutal but beautiful world (brutiful?). Deep combat and rich RPG elements, all set in a cursed realm of forgotten cities, blood-soaked dungeons, and desecrated monuments. What else could you want?
*Note: Salt and Sanctuary is still in development for PS Vita, and will be cross-buy with PS4 when it’s released

Day of the Tentacle Remastered

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1507/...2e8b35fc_z.jpg

We’re so excited to be working with Double Fine on bringing another classic LucasArts adventure to PS4, after their fantastic work on Grim Fandango. Originally released in 1993, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travelling, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world! This loving remaster features all-new, hand-drawn, high-resolution artwork, with remastered music and sound effects.

Enter the Gungeon

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1669/...43b9b555_z.jpg

Enter the Gungeon is the latest in our ongoing partnership (more of a kinship, really) with Devolver Digital, developed by the devious geniuses at Dodge Roll. Making its console debut on PS4, Gungeon combines The Binding of Isaac-style dungeons with an action-packed repertoire of shooting, looting, dodge-rolling, and table-flipping (and two-player local co-op!). All on a quest to reach the ultimate treasure: a gun that can kill the past! (Of course.)

Stories: The Path of Destinies

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1545/...ac636b0f_z.jpg

Spearhead Games was one of the very first developers to jump on the PS4 train with their underrated multiplayer puzzler Tiny Brains. They’ve been working hard ever since on a sumptuous action-RPG called Stories: The Path of Destinies, a madcap epic fantasy where each choice you make takes you through a different story. Each story — some dark, some romantic, all action-packed — is true in its way, and will lead you to victory if you pay enough attention…

Invisible, Inc.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1713/...595f94cd_z.jpg
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1514/...53d2aefa_n.jpghttps://farm2.staticflickr.com/1453/...edec441d_n.jpg

If you’re anything like us, you’re still playing Klei Entertainment’s singular PS4 survival sim Don’t Starve, over two years later. Invisible, Inc. is a very different beast, but similarly applies Klei’s whip-smart design prowess and beautifully stylized aesthetic to a tactical turn-based adventure. Take control of Invisible’s agents in the field and infiltrate the world’s most dangerous corporations. Stealth, precision, and teamwork are essential in high-stakes, high-profit missions, where every move may cost an agent their life.

Alienation

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1458/...c5cf22f5_z.jpg
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1488/...a454e590_n.jpghttps://farm2.staticflickr.com/1526/...28d4505a_n.jpg

If you’ve ever played Super Stardust, Resogun, or Dead Nation, you know the visceral pleasures Housemarque is capable of. They’ve collaborated with SCE Worldwide Studios on another amazing PS4 exclusive, where 1-4 players can team up online against alien hoards with an array of conventional and hybrid weaponry. All taking place in massively destructible environments where collateral damage can literally bring the house down!

__________________

Personally, I'm really looking forward to Alienation, so that one is an easy pre-order for me. Will probably wait on the rest.

BTW : With the Franchise sale today, Assassain's Creed games are on sale. Syndicate is 50% off at $29.99, but even better is that the Gold Version with the Season Pass is only $35.99. Nice deal there.

First free PS Plus PS4 game for April semi-announced already :

First PlayStation Plus Game for April Revealed: Armature Studio’s Dead Star for PS4

It’s still very early to know what games will be included in the PlayStation Plus instant game collection in April, but Sony just provided the first title: Dead Star.

The reveal was made in a slightly unorthodox way, with a PSN notification to those who pre-ordered the game (revealed by Twitter user BLAMdrew), refunding their pre-order since the game is now going to be provided for free to those who are subscribed to PlayStation Plus.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CdDwTR8UYAEs8eL.jpg

Developed by Armature Studio, Dead Star is a fast-paced space shooter for PS4 (and PC), and you can see a trailer below.
