Looks like (unofficial) word from Sony is that if stores have already received them, they don't have to return them, and can go ahead and sell them. Stores that haven't received them (along with future shipments) will have to wait for the new pressings.
I think the recall is a bigger deal in Europe than it is in the US.

I just got a new update from Best Buy saying December 30 of this year now. I'm hoping to go down there tomorrow and be able to pick it up. Gamestop told me two weeks. I'm also gonna check out Blockbuster and Kmart, see what I can find.

It's a platform game like 2d Super Mario, but it has a bit of 3d to it, in that there are 3 planes you can travel between, foreground, middle, and background. It can be played online or off, but apparently there are some puzzles where you need more than one "sac-boy" to solve it - which means co-op online play.
The big kicker however, is that there is a built in editor and you can design in great detail your own levels. Once done you can share them with the online community. It looks to be pretty amazing.

Thanks, C-Mart. I am all about plugging my PS3 in, so I willl give this a shot.

If you don't totally get it right away, keep playing. The first "world" is fine, but it doesn't really kick in until the second, and it just keeps blowing up after that. Likewise, when you first dive into the editor, it doesn't seem like much but once you've spent an hour or two in it, you really start getting an idea of just what's possible.

I wish I could look elsewhere... but I've got BB gift cards for this, and can't get it otherwise... at least not tomorrow.

I used gift cards as well and so ultimately want to get it from BB, but I'm gonna be on the lookout tomorrow as I pass by a couple of places. BB did just send me a new update saying I could pick it up from the store on or around 10/28.

so, if I am able to get a copy tomorrow, it will still be 100% compatible with the PSN and I will still be able to enjoy the game to its absolute fullest... correct? All that is wrong with it is a lyric that I am not going to be able to understand anyway...right?

I believe it eliminates the song (well makes it so it never plays). I assume the PSN is like Xbox Live in that you won't be able to play LBP online without d/l the patch.

No luck @ Target (they told me it was an online-only item, but when I went online it isn't even on the site).
Wal-Mart was a no as well .. said they didn't get them. website now shows 11/11 release date.

By the time I got to Wal-Mart they had already pulled them from the case and told me the sale was "blocked by the home office". They didn't know why, but couldn't sell them. I saw 8-10 of them behind the counter

Yeah, my eBay copy arrived yesterday as well. Most of the listings said "pre-order" - I made sure to order one that specified that the seller actually had the game in hand.
Interesting bits about the song being removed:
The guy who made the song is a Muslim and sees nothing wrong with putting Koran quotes in music: http://kotaku.com/5066316/man-behind...e-quite-normal
Also, an Islamic non-profit group is calling the recall "censorship": http://kotaku.com/5066218/islamic-gr...-on-lbp-recall
Sounds like Sony may have panicked and overreacted with this recall.

I have to imagine if it pops up on one Wal-mart computer it likely will across the nation. No sense bothering there.

Yeah, your best bet is smaller, independent stores, or places that don't specialize in games - maybe Sears or K-mart? Hopefully they aren't clued-in enough to know about the recall.

Guess I bought from the wrong guy.
