Very nice! Although not explicitly stated, I assume this patch will be backwards compatible and will FINALLY allow Harmonix's patch through for GH3's guitar to be used on the original RB? *prays*

Nice work, Sony! Hopefully this means full cross-compatibilty on 360 will happen as well (since we only know that RB instruments will work on GHWT at this point).

That's some amazing news. I'll definitely be getting the GH4 bundle and the RB2 game disc now. Of course, I still have to get a PS3 first. :D
One thing though...does anyone else find it odd that the announcement came directly from Sony and not the developers of the individual games? Almost like Sony's actually stepping in and putting an end to the petty corporate greed BS on behalf of the consumer. |

Funniest thing I've read online in months! Thanks for the laugh! |

Activision/Red Octane said if you use the RB2 or RB drums in GH WT, which only have 5 colors, the note charts will only be those 5, while if you play with the GH drums, you will have all 6 colors, atleast on the 360 (they never said anything about the Ps3 version since sony is more laxed about peripheral sharing). 5 buttons to me is easier than 6buttons
So now that it's been reported the GH:WT drums will work with RB2, I wonder how the colors will line up. If the kick is purple, will the player just have to know that equals orange on RB2? |

Look at all the green! |

Sounds like the 360 instruments will also officially be compatible across all three games. |
Eh, cross-list post and this thread will work.
Pearl Jam's Rearviewmirror (one of my favorite PJ songs, possibly the top) just came up on my shuffle and I want to play this song. Somebody get on it. |
The more vid's I see of GH4......the more I ....

I'm not sure if I've seen any direct-feed footage lately. At least nothing that isn't shitty shaky cell phone cam footage. |

yeah really, what is so drool worthy? I saw this recent vid at Leipzig and i absolutely hate the way they handle the singing part.

The singing setup would have to grow on me. That drummer sucked.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38747.html I liked it for that song, but I would like to see what style with songs that have faster vocals. |
Rock Band's "static" mode on vocals looks similar to that, doesn't it? Maybe they have a "scrolling" version as well.
|
1st off, remember, I do not own RB.......soooo I am currently suffering from RB envy! so every time I see the GH4 drum set in action (like in the IGN vids...that feature the "hairy bearded freak " singing......I start too

 I don't see what's to hate. It's just different. Personally I think seeing the next line of the song could be very handy, especially if you are playing guitar and singing at the same time.
1. RB's static vocals have variable timing. Therefore you never know how long a phrase is going to be until the line goes screaming across the screen. 2. With a "static" vocal style, you never know when you can take a breath if you don't know the song. Sometimes one phrase ends and the next phrase starts right away. If it's non-static, you'd be able to see the next phrase coming. |

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38747.html I will most definitely play using the vocals the traditional way like in this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPrMAUudknA |
I thought that I would give this thread a bumpy-t-bump....seeing how we are getting fresh info and more activity tossed at us... Last I remember, we were at about a 50/50 consensus. Since I do not have RB, I am almost certain to pick up GH\WT..... I just luv the look of those drums!!
Regards, Rub |
I think 90% of us are getting both anyways...
|
Yeah, "or" really doesn't apply to me in this regard. I love the RB experience, but the content that GH is boasting appears essential.
|
Hell, I may even pick up the GH Drums even though I already have the RB drums if they review/play well enough.
|
Ok, both systems have been out a lil bit now........I almost bought GH:WT last Sunday, but I was beat out by a 5th grader!!! I am leaning to GH:WT..........should I do it? or should I jump on the ROCK bandwagon......
Regards, Rub |
