I feel sorry for the people that work at SK. The game is declared mediocre by the gaming paparazzi and their front-man is being ridiculed all over the net. If the game sells poorly (which is never a given, Kane & Lynch anyone?), it's going to be an even bigger mess for SK.

I'm picking up the title tomorrow morning to see for myself. I started messing around with the demo again today with a Berserker and I'm starting to understand the combo system a bit more.
He's a good speaker and seems very knowledgeable but he should have left well enough alone. Put out a press release following that poor E3 showing a year back and be done with it. Just let your game speak for itself.

The best think for SK is to get cracking on an Eternal Darkness sequel, not another new I.P. Granted the first didn't sell well, but it got all kinds of critical acclaim which is what the company needs right now. I was one of the few that bought it on release day, but I know the potential franchise has picked up a bigger following since.

Just a heads up for those still interested in the game. The price on the TRU website corresponds with the price in the store. Just picked up mine at $49.99.

The first level is identical to the demo.

Played this for a couple hours last night, and i'm loving it. The story seemed a little convoluted initially, and could defintely use more exposition - but it's starting to make a little sense I think. I just past the part where I chose either human or cybernetic alignment, and surprisingly there were no comments from the game on the choice I made. Strange. Oh, and thanks to the internet my armor was quite decent for starting

Just finished it at level 30 with a Berserker. That includes a little co-op yesterday. It's on the short side.

I really enjoyed the story (with a little help from Wikipedia on the mythology), but the repetitive battles gave me Bullet Witch flashbacks. There's a serious pacing problem with the game. The boss battles are awfully weak as well. The lack of a meaningful death penalty sometimes made me feel like I was holding down the "WIN" button.

I was surprised I was 20% through it already at 2 hours in, and I spent a lot of time screwing around in the menuing system too. Ahh well, I'm enjoying it a lot

I'm liking it a lot so far too, I just finished the ice forest level and it's picking up some good steam. If the 4 chapter thing is true, I'd guess i'm looking at around 8-10 hours of play. Which honestly, I don't mind because at least I'll feel like i've accomplished something...then i'll stare at GTA 4 still sitting there taunting me.

While certainly over the top, and obtuse as fuck, I think there was a lot of merit to his 1up diatribe. Not so much for his specific case, but for the internet in general. Most message boards could stand a bit more civility. That's why I only post here and one other place that don't feel like a cesspool of assholes.

He has put his foot in his mouth a bit though in his campaign for the game. I agree that the real losers here are the SK developers.

Sold my copy on Ebay this weekend for a $2 loss. I recommend the game at the cost of $2.

I just finished the Ice Forest level, and am also enjoying the game quite a bit. I'm playing a Bio-Engineer, and am at level 21. If anyone wants to play some co-op, add me as a friend. My Gamertag is: JustinRT

Re: "Too Human" - Beowulf meets the Bionic Man

This article got me interested in going back and finishing Too Human. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/22/si...r-too-human-2/

I walked away from this one about half way through last year. The constant repetition was killing me. However, I felt maybe I had judged it harshly and gave it another go.

Now that I have completed it I have to say this is easily the worst game I ever finished. It is so poorly constructed that it must have been designed by people that hate video games. All that development time and there are basically only 5 or so enemy types. Even when you fight something like the undead they are still the same enemies you fought earlier just reskined. Oh and do you fight them a lot. The same thing over and over and over and over for hours in each of the 4 levels. The areas look the same in each level, the enemies are the same, everything is the same. Never have I dealt with something so tedious and unrewarding.

I know this was supposed to be a Diablo type game, but it screwed all the Diablo stuff up. The RPG system is worthless. Everytime you level up they level up so it is meaningless. The game drops so much loot and the loot makes so little difference when equipped that it is also meaningless. Basically all that development time on loot and RPG elements and they add nothing at all to the experience. Play it cybernetic or human it honestly doesn't seem to make any difference in the way the game plays. You never feel that any strategy you employ in equipment or skills actually changes anything in the game. I retooled the skill tree 3 times and the enemy battles were basically identical.

Then there is the punishment for dying. You are forced to sit through an animation and sometimes to backtrack to the point you died. Instead of adding anything positive it makes an already overly tedious game more tedious. During the battle with Hel I must have died 30 times. By the end I almost hated video games all together. Not only that, but once you beat the game it doesn't just let you move on to the ending and relax. Oh no, not the geniuses that made this game. Instead you are forced to back track a bit and fight all those same damn enemies again over and over, die again a couple more times. It is like the game designers wanted a final kick to your groin before letting you off the hook.

All I can say is if there really is a Too Human 2 on the way I hope it is a drastically different game. If it is a repeat of this I can only hope it will be a financial disaster and maybe end Silicon Knights once and for all. The people involved with making this game don't deserve to make video games for a living.

I played the game to completion just a few weeks ago and....I completely agree with you.

I checked my stats after finishing: I died 214 times throughout the game.

I played an hour or so of this and didn't mind it. But then it went back onto the backlog. Now I've just started playing Sacred 2, which seems a vastly superior experience. Not sure I will ever go back to Too Human.
