Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

The one thing I learned while playing this game the first time around was to have and keep multiple saves at various points. A buddy of mine is probably 40 hours in and said that he has only 2 saves. Big mistake in my opinion. I have probably 30-35 saves and even backup some of them from time to time on an SD card for good measure (and because I'm scared shitless of the YLOD).

I've saved a whole lot and I realized I really didn't need to save that much. If you have no regrets then it's okay not to save all the time.

amen
when FO3 was first announced I was really hoping for the party control of Tactics with the long plot, and story options of 2

a while back I dabbled with a mod that let you play BG1 in the BG2 engine

I'm currently playing NWN2, and I'm enjoying it, but I still want a BG type game where I can create a part of 6 with complete control of their actions and their leveling up

I would love to see that game engine, or a newer one that is identical play wise but has updated graphical abilities, used for RPGs in other "universes"

Yeah I made a lot of saves in the main mission the first 100 hours. Like 150+, then I started to have issues so I deleted a lot of those saves. I was already level 20, so I decided to leave a save for each level. So I went from 150+ saves to around 20.
Right now I'm around 160 hours, but I haven't managed my saves so I don't know how many I have.

Fallout 3 - Mothership Zeta Interview (http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=11910). I didn't see any spoiler.

There's some problem where if you have (I believe) right at 50 saves it will cause your game to freeze until you delete some. It is really strange since the number of saves you have shouldn't affect how the game runs but we all know that this game is full of weird glitches.

I had like 300 saves and delteted about 295 of them

The new DLC sounds fun, can't wait.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

Based on my love of F3, I picked up the Oblivion GOTY Edition ($20 at Gamestop) to see how it holds up.

While it doesn't have anywhere near the personality of Fallout and has crazy inventory management, I eventually got into it. I am sort of turned off by the pretentious high-fantasy stuff, but the gameplay is pretty solid...except for first person swordplay, which is crap. But the game is very pretty...like LotR but less gritty, and the story is getting kind of interesting.

You can basically adapt the game to be more Fallout-like if you play as a mage. I'm mostly playing it as a shooter with light armor and a dagger for emergencies...and I summon sidekicks, who play a lot like Charron except you don't have to worry about them dying.

Anyway, just a recommendation to try it out...and a word of warning that it took me a LONG time to get into it. If you have to choose between the two, it's Fallout 3 by a mile.

I tried Oblivion twice and couldn't get into it at all. It was either too hard or too easy.

Oblivion went from sort of overwhelming, and a bit to open, to amazing once I started the Dark Brotherhood quests. Now that was one hell of a story arc.

I discovered yesterday that one of my office colleagues just started F3 and has finished Oblivion (opposite of me), so we we had a cool talk about the games, and I explained in great detail why I think Fallout 3 is better.

Cool to find somebody at work with similar interests...especially at my age.

I finally finished this off this morning and earned the platinum trophy. Iwas able to do 90% of it on one playthrough only having to go back to earlier saves for the other level 8trophies and the Strictly Business quest. I already had the lockpick trophy (my only one) from when I started the game before my system went bellyup with the YLOD a few months ago. It is my first platinum (and maybe my last) but I'm glad that I got it.

I can't keep up with the download content. I don't think I've ever said something like this, but they need to slow down...

The GOTY edition includes the standard game plus all 5 expansion DLCs. This is confirmed.

:drool::up:

I'm just amazed that they are releasing it so soon after the last DLC comes out...particularly on PS3.

Same here.

However, I thought I'd heard that you have to start a new game to play one of the DLC packs - the first one, I think.

Is this true?
