100% completion?

I only hit about 43% on Lego Indiana Jones after completing all the movies/chapters. I went back to pick up a lot of the artifacts I missed to unlock the Young Indy level. I think I spent more time on the artifacts than I did on the original run-through and that was for a measly 10 minute bonus level. I may of finished closer to 55%.
I play games to storyline completion, but I'm no longer going to try for these bonus things. I just have too many other games I want to play.

I'm a completionist, assuming the achievements are attainable and single-player. I'm someone who prefers to play the hell out of the games I do buy, but I don't buy a lot of games so I can concentrate on the ones I do play. So far this year I've only really played 5 games: Call of Duty 4, Lost: Via Domus (ha), Rock Band, GTA4, and WiiFit.
I've 100%ed Dead Rising, Lost, and Bioshock (pre-expansion). I've earned all the single player achievements on Saints Row.

I'm interested in doing all the subquests in RPGs if they don't make my character uber-powered and the game boring (FFX).
I'm not interested in achievement points. They are just e-phallus to me. I don't get it. The only ones that seem to have any point to me are the ones added to old, oldschool pointless arcade games like Ms. Pacman, some of them are fun to do.
I'm interested in playing the game and experiencing the story. Not spending hours killing 100000000 zombies or trying on every outfit or killing 800 people with the sniper rifle or something. For some sort of points that don't have any purpose. If I could earn something with achievement points maybe I would get it - like gamerpics or something - I just don't get the whole achievement thing. No interest.

I agree with most people about the JRPG thing... I find that if I try to get 100%, I need to rely on a guide or risk missing something vital, and then when I rely on a guide I'm not really having fun playing the game, just following detailed instructions.
For a game like assassin's creed... again, I don't think there's any way I could get all the flags without either wasting a lot of time wandering, or wasting a lot of time looking at maps trying to find the flags I missed. If I ever get those achievements, it'll be because of my obsessive-compulsive nature, not because it's fun.
On the other hand, the Mass Effect ones seem doable, even though you have to play through a bunch of times. And the ones like in Dead Rising, while seemingly impossible, are pretty cool added incentives to play the game longer. I may never get 100% on them, but the games are fun enough to at least give it a go. Same for something like DMC4, with the achievements for the harder difficulty levels.

Before achievements were created, 100% completion to me meant beating the game and playing it until it wasn't fun anymore. Now, those bastard achievements! They make me do things I don't want to do. "It hurts down there"

Nope. It actually rarely happens that I'm interested long enough to even finish a game. Hell, as an example, I played through some of act 1 of Metal Gear 4 and I haven't picked it up since.
My most played games are the ones I can pick up and play with friends, or sports games. Madden, Rock Band, and COD4.
