it's like Hysteria on Bass, hard and repetitive.

(For those that still dunno what it is:

I read the word Hysteria and immediately thought Def Leppard. I so want some DL.

I always liked that song (Snow) and for some reason I thought it was already part of the game, when I realized it was Dani California I got confused with. This is a must download for me.

pinata242 07-08-08 12:12 PM

We look forward to a video of your first attempt at it, rabbit. Don't disappoint.

It looks ASS HARD is a better way to describe it

It's definitely one of the hardest expert guitar songs in RB for me. There's probably been no more than five songs that I did not manage to pass on sightread, and this is one of them. After going back and playing the song again to beat it, I still only managed three stars. Probably could have had four, but I was holding on to my overdrive through the whole song worried that I might need it to stay alive...I never did.

Now that I've passed it, I don't see myself doing the guitar chart on this one ever again...It's just not fun at all playing that pain in the ass melody over and over and over...

Vocals are the only reason to download this song. I LOVE challenging guitar charts as much as anyone, but not repetitive ones like this. Give me Green Grass or Thrasher any day.

A sightread video request, eh? Since youtube is blocked here at work I can't even preview the note chart, so... sure, why not.

pinata242 07-08-08 12:45 PM

Excellent! I've always been curious how the elite do the first time on a new song. Like I just can't wrap my head around that video above being the first attempt or what Npeaen does every week.

While I have no doubt it's possible, I just can't wrap my feeble mid-Hard-level mind around it.

Hands-on impressions of RB2. Looks like the leaks are pretty close to being accurate so far. And Panic Attack is the Dream Theater song.

Very cool stuff in there!

ETA: Granted, most of the listed songs come from the G4 reveal last week. So the jury is still out on the bigger lists.

And it makes the drums sound like a slighter upgrade than I previously thought. Which is good, because I won't need to buy the new ones.

 E3 can't come soon enough!

Finally read it thoroughly instead of glancing in between dancing and giggling. There is a lot to love, but this stands out in terms of rumor confirmation...although we still don't know how it will work.

Still, according to Harmonix, online World Tour wasn't the number-one feature requested by Rock Band fans. That distinction goes to "backward compatibility"--ensuring that all of the hundreds of songs that were found in the original Rock Band and available as DLC since its release will work seamlessly once the sequel rolls in. In that sense it's mission accomplished, because the game will feature full support for all of the original Rock Band songs, all of the downloadable content, and, naturally, the more than 80 songs that will be packed in with the disc version of Rock Band 2.

Custom setlists make me hot!

So my biggest wants for RB2 were:

1. Backwards DLC [x]
2. Band World Tour Online [x]
3. Custom Setlists [x]
4. Bass/Rythym Tour [x]
5. Dream Theater [x]

Ladies and gentleman, we have a day one purchase. :) Not that I wasn't buying anyway, but it's damn impressive they are addressing all the features people want.

aktick 07-08-08 03:51 PM

Tour Challenge sounds cool, finally a different single player (but also can be MP) "career" mode. Battle of the Bands could be neat as well.

Some of the rumored new tracks had me buying anyways (Tull), but I'm liking all the new stuff I keep reading.

Walker Boh 07-08-08 04:25 PM

Tour Challenge mode will also integrate DLC automatically when building challenges. You can also expect to play album-specific challenges, which should only grow as the list of full-length albums available as DLC continues to expand.
Awesome.

Besides the Rush we're getting this week and the Moving Pictures album in the near future can we get a few songs off the new album: Armor & Sword, Far Cry, Workin' Them Angels, Larger Bowl, Malignant Narcissism, Spindrift, The Larger Bowl? I would take a couple of these songs in a heartbeat. Seeing and hearing these performed live was awesome and I bet they would be fun playing with your friends. Besides, since this is the new album there is a good chance we wouldn't have to hear someone try to imitate Geddy and get his real voice instead.

porieux 07-08-08 05:01 PM

Funny that Snow is so hard in the game because it doesn't sound like it would be very hard to play on a real guitar. Haven't downloaded it yet myself, I'm pretty meh on more recent RHCP, but I may have to get it anyway for the challenge.

Mad Dawg 07-08-08 05:27 PM

Crap. The rollercoaster ride continues. Gamespot has updated their article, and there is no longer any mention of RB1 disc songs being compatible. :(

Hopefully it is just a gag order and wasn't wrong information. One more week!

I await Permanent Waves as it would be a perfect 6 pack of songs with Spirit of Radio and Freewill. :D

So both Gamespot and IGN report it...either the Gamespot guy was reading the IGN article, they're both thinking a bit too wishfully, or the gag order came down from Harmonix. Let's hope it's the latter.

edstein 07-08-08 07:04 PM

Can't we all just wait for the official announcement next week? No since getting all excited over rumors.

That is fine and all, but in that Gamespot article it wasn't a rumor, they stated it as fact.

Yeah, HMX said on RB.com that the Gamespot article was official as far as they're concerned. You'd have figured it'd be vetted prior to publishing.
