First of all, Baba O'Riley!!

Secondly...3 god damn live tracks. Enthusiasm fading.

Thirdly, no Pinball Wizard. :(

Fourthly, I am still pretty damn geeked.

Live tracks from Live At Leeds. LIVE AT LEEDS.

Mad Dawg 06-30-08 05:34 PM

I have to admit, I didn't read the link. I take back my angry face in spades.

DaveWadding 06-30-08 05:44 PM

And I found out today from a friend that the masters for "The Who Sings My Generation" are gone, like some (all?) of the masters from side 1 of Who's Next. Hence the live version of My Generation.

Yeah, but if I could completely reverse my earlier position, the Leeds My Generation is pretty much the best out there. I wonder how much they're going to edit it down.

DaveWadding 06-30-08 05:52 PM

I'm a little surprised at a lack of Pinball Wizard as well, considering someone found that in one of the DLC files a while back...eh well prolly in RB2.

Mad Dawg 06-30-08 05:55 PM

The one last thing that is giving me pause...are they going to chart the keyboard intro on Baba? Yikes! I actually kind of dug it in Smokin, but not here.

Krelyan 06-30-08 05:59 PM

Well, I guess I'm that "fucked PS3 guy." I've d/l'ed nearly all the DLC and not only do I not get backwards compatibility if I want the game soon; I also got stuck using a shitty controller which is now broken and Harmonix won't replace. Thanks Corporate America.

On The Bright Side: 90/00's indie guitar driven rock has been a bit lacking in the GH/RB series so I'm hoping to see some Built to Spill and Modest Mouse from that list. Both of the bands are long overdue.

PerryD 06-30-08 06:07 PM

I don't mind the delay for the PS3 version, as the purchase will most likely be for a Christmas gift anyway. Same with GH4.

Supermallet 06-30-08 06:12 PM

My thoughts on The Who tracklist:

Fuck yeah! I actually would have preferred "Bargain" instead of "Baba O'Riley" (it's my favorite Who song and isn't dominated by keyboards), but I am SO FUCKING STOKED for "Sea & Sand," one of the most underrated Who songs ever. Also, I love that we're getting songs from Live At Leeds! Best DLC ever!

Also, RB2 coming out a month earlier than GH:WT pretty much guarantees I won't be buying GH:WT. I'm going to get the disc-only version of the game, and if the new instruments turn out to be reliable, I will buy a new drum set. I'll probably keep using the Les Paul, because I much prefer the feel of it.

I know it won't help much, and the exclusivity window certainly does suck, but you know that Harmonix and EA reopened the RMA process through October? As of today, it's back to the "no receipt required" policy, so replacing your controller should be no issue.

Krelyan 06-30-08 07:05 PM

No, I did not. I had called ~2 weeks ago and was denied. Thanks for the heads up.

Still leaves the quandary of switching to the 360 version for the Les Paul/friends/exclusivity or staying with the PS3 for the DLC. Guess I'll see how the reviews for the new guitar turn out.

Silkk_34 06-30-08 08:30 PM

I cried tears of happiness today.

Full setlist reveal at E3? :swoon:

Michael Corvin 06-30-08 10:38 PM

Full set at E3? Color me impressed. Then again the game apparently comes out two months after E3 so we should know pretty much everything after E3.

Like everyone else I am super excited about this news!

Playing GHA, though fun, reminds me how much better I like the RB game mechanics.
Bring on the new game modes! Online BWT..............oh yes!

naitram 07-01-08 12:02 AM

Excellent news on RB2, should be good over Winter break.

cartman 07-01-08 01:07 AM

For the last month I've not been getting the RB DLC (after getting it all up to then) due to running out of MS points (I'd only been buying them when 50% off or less), but I'll be darned if I'm not going to pay full price for one, if I must, to get The Who!

Rock Band 2:
Completely wishful thinking: Maybe they'll use the extra time for PS3 development to do a Warhawk-esque release that is available both on Blu-ray and via PSN download. A downloaded version that "patches" itself onto Rock Band 1 to create one giant setlist would be amazing, and should be technically possible as the PSN can handle downloads of that size [insert your "PSN is too slow" complaint here].

The Who:
Awesome! Can't wait ...

So can the 360. They have Xbox Originals up for d/l which range from 1-9GB each... same as 360 titles. That would be kinda cool, but hard drive space on the 360 is at a premium though. Not sure how many people would take advantage of that method.

I know I sure would! I got the 120GB drive for XMas last year, and have plenty of space free. :)

But I totally understand what you're saying. Pretty much only people who have the 120GB drive would take advantage, as the song data from the first game would probably be about 2 gigs or so (estimating that an album is about 300 megs and there's about 7ish "albums" worth of stuff on the disc).

I like the new guitar, but I actually prefer the look of the Mad Catz Telecaster since I've already got the original Strat. Unfortunately, the MC one is launching wired, at a ridiculous price, and is made by the only company who breeds less confidence in peripheral QA than Harmonix/EA.

I'm anxious to see the looks of the new drums compared to the MC ones, too.

cerial442 07-01-08 08:53 AM

Not a fan of the wood finish.

Shagrath 07-01-08 09:05 AM

All this RB2 talk made me forget it's Tuesday!

Partial information up in the DLC post (guitar charts and tiering).

edstein 07-01-08 09:18 AM

Nothing worse than plastic wood. The last version wasn't too bad. It just needed to be a little higher quality/thicker plastic. The LP from GHIII is just about perfect IMO.
