PS3/PSP - Remote Play - When can you use it?
I have a ps3 and psp and am confused by the remote play feature. it is cool that you can turn on the ps3 and go through the menus and go to the playstation store, but what else can you do with it? I tried downlaoding a psp game on to the ps3 and figured i could play it on the psp, but i couldn;t. are there any games or features that let you use it?

You can play any PS1 game on the PSP and even some PS3 games. As far as I know, any PSP games you download onto the PS3 have to be transfered onto a memory stick. There may be some PSN games that work on a PSP also.

It's a pretty cool feature, I must say. I have 3 downloaded games on my PS3 (Calling all Cars, Stardust, and PixelJunk Monsters), only PJ M is remote play compatible, for obvious reasons (at least in the case of Stardust, I can't think of the control scheme in calling all cars off of the top of my head.)

Games and Softwares compatible with Remote Play

Sony is allowing developers to let their games on the PlayStation 3 interact with the PSP. So far Sony Computer Entertainment has only announced two titles that will work together with Remote Play.[5] Gran Turismo HD and Formula One Championship Edition were shown at E3 with the PlayStation Portable acting in-game as a rear view mirror to assist the player in the game.[6] However, the Remote Play feature was dropped from both games before release and did not appear in the final version of the game, during the next firmware update it has been announced that such remote play is ready to be activated.
Soon after its release, the PlayStation 3 title Lair was found to work on the PlayStation Portable via Remote Play. The entire game is theoretically playable with no lagging (since the PlayStation 3 itself still processes the game, but the PSP displays it), however due to control problems many actions are difficult to use because the PSP lacks a right analog stick and the L2 and R2 buttons, all of which are necessary for playing the game. Although the PSP can be configured to use the Select button as a modifier key, such that Select+Joystick = Right Analog and Select+Left Shoulder = L2, such manual gymnastics are difficult to perform quickly, and preclude operation of both analog sticks simultaneously. Instead of using Sixaxis, Lair uses the joystick, making it easier to control your dragon. With the current versions of the firmware for both the PSP and the PS3, original PlayStation games can now be played through Remote Play to the PSP.[7][8]

Do you have to leave the PS3 on? Or you can turn it on and off with the PSP remotely? Can you watch any BD movie you leave inside the PS3 this way also?

I have no issues using remote play on my local network but I have yet to get it to work over an internet connection. I assume it's my router screwing me over and I need to mess with the ports. Anyway.....the feature is still very sweet even if I can only use it in my apartment. I few times I have woken up, grabbed my PSP from beside the bed, logged onto my PS3 and started to download some new demos. After I that I will go back to sleep for a few hours while they download. It's convenient and makes me feel extra lazy.
