I'm still trying to get my head around this:

It's just Greg Grunberg - who fucking cares! "Entrance"? Were not talking Keyser Soze here!

Yeah, I don't think actor names really qualify as spoilers.

I don't know wtf you people are griping about but mentioning actors' names isn't a big deal. Otherwise the movie thread of dvdtalk would be pretty sparse for names.

Yeah, that's what I was coming back to post. It's not like there's some super-secret Angelia Jolie cameo or something. Pinata, I apologize if I came off harsh, that was not my intent. But it ticks me off when people get pissed off about spoiling something that's so trivial. It's not a major plot point to the game and someone isn't going to be extremely disappointed that they now know that the mind-reader guy from Heroes is in the game.

Unless they make a game based on the movie Se7en and you haven't seen the movie.... Speaking of Keyser Soze..... wait, is that a spoiler?

First case with some glitches...characters floating...people frozen...case not moving forward...and a part where I was suppose to find a taxi, and it just was not there....I tried avoiding reading anything about this game online, but I could not help it after looking for the taxi for 30 minutes. This seems to be a problem on this homicide case...

Up to this point it had been a smooth ride, but it almost seemed like they got lazy...ugh..

No, getting lazy would be a case called "The case of the curious stick figure". Now that would be lazy

Beat the game and ended up having only 1 glitch the entire time. Phelps fell through the ground and off into oblivion!

Overall, not a bad game, but not great. Very repetitive, and I found myself rapidly losing interest in the story. Even skipped some cutscenes at the end to get it over with. I don't think they could have designed less likeable characters if they tried.

I was going to go see Pirates 4 this weekend, but then someone over in the the movie forum let it spill that Johnny Depp is in it. Well, thanks for ruining the movie for me. No point in seeing it now.

Wait, the mind reader guy from Heroes is in this game?! Damn it, Deftones! Might as well quit now.

Back in with blinders on, but I'm sure you guys are having a field day with my "over-reacting". Whatever.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm about 11 hours into the game and still on disc 2 but the 13th case totally should have been called
Spoiler:
Assassin's Creed Se7en

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

I'm on the 7th or 8th case and am pretty disappointed so far. The interrogation mechanic just doesn't work well. There are times when doubt means 'I know you're lying, but I can't prove it' and others where it means 'I know you're telling the truth, but I need to be a little gruff to get you to tell me more.' And some of the conversation logic just sucks. A couple examples from case 5 or 6:
Spoiler:
I was questioning a woman whose husband disappeared and she mentioned something about him just buying new glasses. When examining the crime scene, I'd found an older pair of glasses that had been repaired, so I thought maybe I should call into question what she said. Of course, instead of just saying 'the glasses we found weren't new', Phelps screamed an accusation that she killed her husband.

Then, I questioned a guy involved with the missing man. He said that he thought the missing guy was skipping town and might be at the bus station. I found an unused train ticket at the guy's house, so I chose 'lying' and showed the ticket. Apparently, that's not the right action.

When I went to the woman's house to tell her that her husband was missing, I found a water heater on the side of the house that was missing a pipe left at the scene of the potential crime. Apparently, you're supposed to do this after talking to the wife, as the conversations inside act like I hadn't already found it.

Anyway, the environment is nice except for occasional pop-in and the character models are excellent. I'm just really disappointed in how the dialog often has a crappy, unnatural flow and the interrogation logic sometimes sucks, as that's really the core of the whole thing. It's certainly not an awful game, but so far it'd be 4th or 5th down on my 2011 list.

FWIW, it would appear that Best Buy has upped their extra $15 to $20 for LA Noire. I'm on the phone with their customer service right now to see what they can do. The only difference is the $20 is a gift card whereas the $15 was a digital code. They've got a case going with their promotions department and expect to get back to me soon.

On the case involving the hit and run outside the diner
Spoiler:
I canvassed the scene and found a bloody knife in the trash can outside the diner. Later, when I was at the home of the widow and her would-be business partner, I was able to go into the kitchen and examine the box of cleanser and the wooden spoon, but not the knife rack with the missing knife. WTF?

Fortunately, I cracked the case anyway.

I thought the same thing, Jason. Seemed like a bit of a gaffe.

Regarding the last traffic case, I was blown away by
Spoiler:
The Intolerance set. Not only was it well rendered, but they really use it well.

http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/9...ntolerance.jpg

Of course, that thing had been torn down for nearly 30 years by the time period the game was set in, but I'm willing to forgive them that.

 at Gay Cowboys as well.

Yeah, the game is all kinds of random in what you can and can't examine. I like the idea of the game a lot more than the execution.

If only they could combine the facial animations with the dialogue trees of Fallout or some of those games...

I just started case disc 2, level 10/20. My guess is that I'll reach 20 long before the end.

Spoiler:
And yet you get an achievement for finding the knife on your first sweep around the bar. Weird. I was thinking the same thing, as I was looking right at the block of knives in the kitchen, but couldn't examine them.

Spoiler for (if memory serves) case #10 - the third one on the homicide desk - "The Silk Stocking Murder":

Spoiler:
I loved how the investigation starts out like the previous murders, until you start following the blood trail. Then you discover the sequence of clues intentionally left behind by the killer. It's a great moment of realization when you figure out that the blood trail keeps on going...and going...and going. It was the first case where I completely nailed every question and found every clue without the hint system on.

I f'ed up on that case.

Spoiler:
I went to the fruit market first, instead of going to the bar. Of course you find the guy you are going to arrest at the fruit market, so I missed out on some gameplay. oh well.

I just called Best Buy regarding the gift-card offer being upped to $20 for online orders. The guy had me explain what the deal was, then spent about a minute processing something and said they were sending me a $10 gift card in the mail; way beyond what I ever expected.
