Are you wondering how to get your hands on the Duke Nukem Forever Ego Boost, Big Head Mode or T-Shirt Pack when the game is released? There's only one place to get these limited DLC treats.

2K Games has announced that this collection of Duke Nukem Forever DLC content is available exclusively in Duke's Big Package. The only way to get Duke's Big Package is to pre-order Duke Nukem Forever for Xbox 360, PS3 or the PC from GameStop.

The good news is you don't have to find $100 under the couch for the Duke Nukem Forever: Balls of Steel Edition to get your hands on Duke's Big Package (that came out wrong). You'll get Ego Boost, Big Head Mode and the T-Shirt Pack regardless of which edition of Duke Nukem Forever is pre-ordered.

The bad news is there are only a limited number of download codes available for Duke's Big Package. Once they're all spoken for, that's it. No Duke's Big Package for you.

Duke Nukem Forever Delayed

The game was supposed to be out this May, but won't be. It's been delayed. Again.

"I'm very sorry for the added delay. We've all been working extremely hard and are very eager to deliver the game to you," said Pitchford in an official statement.

"I've been thinking of these lyrics from the great country song, 'He's The Duke' - 'He told us if we waited we could Come Get Some, but I never knew Forever was going to be so long.' If you're like me, June cannot come quickly enough."

The release date was changed from May 3 (May 6 for outside the U.S.) to June 14 for the States and June 10 (for the international release).

According to the game's publisher, this is the "shortest" delay in the game's franchise. "In case you haven't heard, Duke never comes early," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K in an official statement. We thank Duke's fans for their continued patience - I promise this won't take another 15 years."

Delayed numerous times, Duke Nukem has been in development since 1997. Gearbox Software took over development duties from the title's creator, 3D Realms, in 2009.

LOL, I'm still not fully convinced that we will ever see this game. This was the one release that couldn't afford another delay, IMO. If I was the CEO of Gearbox, I would have busted balls to avoid any kind of delay. Otherwise, you become a joke again.

Slipping one month is hardly the same thing as slipping a decade. If there was one release that could afford a minor delay, it's the one that no one ever thought would ever happen, IMO.

If it was still in the hands of the lazy incompetent hacks at 3D Realms, I would agree with you. But since it no longer is and is now in the hands of completely different developers, I no longer agree. They would not have bought the rights to the game if they didn't plan to actually finish and release it. That would be an enormous waste of money just to carry on a running gag with no payout.

Personally, I think that Gearbox probably knew from the beginning that they wouldn't have it done by May, so this isn't really a delay. They just said May so they could later "delay" it as a joke. But this will be a one-time joke, not a 15 year joke like with 3D Realms.

Hopefully you're right. I can fully see June arriving and Gearbox apologizing and saying the game is now delayed indefinitely.

Cool little write-up at PA that puts the original DN in proper perspective and how it's probably more awesome than you remember:

Duke Nukem is no doubt, and no argument, an organism which is guaranteed (indeed, engineered) to be offensive. So, if we get offended... does he win, somehow? Is that how it works?

These days Duke remembered as the game with boobs in it, or is the game about boobs, or is executed by running boobs.exe, or is the one about a dumb jerk. The terrible thing is that, yeah, a lot of it was dumb. Is dumb. But while 3D Realms was doing away with taste and chivalry, they also did away with a bunch of other cruft that still clings to the genre.

Consider that "Quake," a game which came after Duke and was considered to be the primary competitor to Duke at that time, did away with manual interactions altogether. You progressed through the game largely via frottage; you simply rubbed yourself against walls and doors until they gave way, either by a scripted trigger or simply through vigorous abrasion. Duke could have been made as a response to Quake, even though it came out before: it had world as tangible, or more tangible, than many shooters today.

Things get more complicated when you start thinking about QuakeC, or native IP support, and then all bets are truly off the first time you entered +mlook at the console. I mean, that's when you knew. But as a design - as a place? For all its interdimensional chaos, you could eat off of Quake. Every molecule was clean. Duke, on the other hand, was filthy with ambiguities.

Jetpacks. Tricksy holograms. Shrink-rays. I mean, there are entire games based on individual Duke features. Timed detonators! It's like they had access to a different alphabet, and somewhere they are still hoarding those secret letters. Why are all of those ideas in the same game? It's from 1996, and it still comes up in conversation. The Subway. The Bank. Virtually unlimited levels to play on, 20k or less in most cases. I shot Gabriel once with a shrink ray, and he used his jetpack to fly out the window like an insect. Fifteen years ago. Still talking about it, about scenarios that to this day no game has managed to top.

Duke was also made before people were paying regular attention to this industry and its nefarious output; like his brother Lo Wang, he's a creature out of time that has no place in the modern world. But the game did make contributions of a real sort, and charted a very different course, even if you would need an industrial centrifuge to make any part of it pure.

Oh, I doubt it. They know the game's going to be reviewed very critically given the long delay, so they want to make sure it's absolutely perfect. I'm guessing there were bugs in the game that other development studios would let slide in order to ship (and fix with a patch later). Personally, I wish other studios would delay more often when it is in the best interest of releasing a polished, finished product. Heck, some studios delay and still can't get it together (BioWare).

Quake came out during my freshman year of college, and most of the gamery people I knew split into two camps. One had all the Duke Nukem 3D loyalists (which consisted of...um, me and one other person), while everyone else, everywhere, latched onto Quake. Honestly, I never got the appeal of Quake...such a bland, boring-looking game where everything was brown, gray, or dark green...the weapons were pretty routine...I had fun playing it, sure, but why settle for Quake when I could play something as ridiculous and inventive as Duke3D? Duke's arsenal was so off-the-wall that I always, always, always had a blast. The big drag for Duke3D was having to play multiplayer on a LAN or having to use Kali or whatever to play over the Internet. Quake definitely revolutionized online multiplayer.

Sucks about the delay

I was onboard wit Duke over Quake as well. The only thing Quake had going for it was hardware accelerated 3D with GLQuake and VQuake for me.

Duke was the first game I ever went online with, back in '96 with a friend and we were both like "holy shit, I can't believe we're doing this!" It was all downhill from there...

I loved both Duke Nukem 3D and Quake. I remember creating custom maps in DN3D... made one look exactly like my parents' house. Quake definitely had a better infrastructure for online multiplayer, though. There was a game rental store that my friends and I would go to so we could all play DN3D on their LAN. It was awesome.

I don't like the drab look either, but it doesn't seem to have hurt the sales of a lot of modern games. Even the upcoming SSX looks to have adopted the scheme to fit in.

Turd Burglar achievement

And no multiplayer achievements

I also noticed an achievement for watching the entire list of credits at the end of the game. I bet that indicates it is going to be very long. If they list every single person that has worked on the game over the past 15 years, it may take half an hour or more. Longest credit sequence ever?
