Don't assume -- it makes an ass out me and Ocelot. ;)

There are 1910 and Europe achievements for TtR that bring the point total up to 250. This indicates expansion. I believe that there's text in the Help area game that confirms this as well.

Well i wouldn't want to make an ass out of Ocelot.

If there are achievements in this version that reference the European one then it will obviously be DLC and that is actually pretty cool (assuming the DLC isn't priced at 800 points). I just know in the tabletop version they were all new standalone games and sold for like 40-50$ so i assumed if they could rake Live owners over the coals for another 10$ they would.

Glad to see that probably isn't the case.

Exactly! He doesn't need the help.

yeah, the expansion is implied in the achievements and help text. I just hope it's not another 800 points for Europe.

Whoever that guy was, he's pretty smart. The XBLA Game O' The Week is indeed SOULCALIBUR. It's 800 points.

Also there is a Wits & Wagers package of DLC content. 280 questions for 320 points. This continues their dubous pricing of questions more than a point each. Still I'm sure some sucker (who shall remain nameless, but who started this thread) will happily pay the points for this rip-off. ;)

Groucho 06-30-08 12:31 PM

The thing with the Wits and Wagers questions is that every question could just be "pick a random number between 1 and 1000" and it would play out the exact same way.

Decker 06-30-08 01:13 PM

You're right. It's "Deal Of No Deal" with more cases and far less attractive models.

That is kind of what i told a guy from the company that makes the board game last week. The board game is really fun because you have a feel for who your friends are and what stuff they might know. Not so much with the video game.

Also, i really dislike the nature of the questions (like Groucho was referencing). It feels like lazy trivia.

Again, i make a call for the best trivia video game ever: You Don't Know Jack

I would buy YDKJ in a minute. I'd buy it twice (well, not really, but I'd really buy it good once.)

pinata242 07-01-08 08:02 PM

Pixy? You still out there, buddy? Geometry Wars Evolved 2 achievements are out. Looks like it does include Waves.

http://www.achieve360points.com/game/geometrywars2/

These almost seem attainable to we mere mortals too!

If you want to pay for my gold membership I'll play.

Do you see any details? Because I don't.

pinata242 07-02-08 01:07 AM

Page down, maybe? ;) The page layout there is horrible. It's below what one might consider the bottom of the page.

Soul Calibur is awesome. I'm all nostalgic for this game. Great childhood memories, it's almost on par with GoldenEye for me.

Um, yeah.... A 1999 console game brings back all sorts of great childhood memories for me as well...

Yeah.. 9 years ago... shit I'm old.

Achievements for the Puzzle Quest expansion are out, which means the release is nearing (still no date). http://www.xbox360achievements.org/n...ws.php?id=1290

3 achievements worth 50 points total, 2 of them for defeating bosses (20 each) and one 10 point one described as "Gain the Stormfriend award". Obviously the end of some sidequest.

I can't wait for this expansion to breathe new life into one of my favorite ds/xbla games!

xmiyux 07-03-08 09:02 AM

Any news on the new Puzzle Quest-like game? I remember it is set in space.

pinata242 07-03-08 12:19 PM

Galactrix, I think it's called. No new info in a while. Hopefully something at E3.

No kidding.

I still have a couple of PS1 versions of it around, but some online YDKJ would be a pretty fun way to kill some time with my online buddies.

This week on Arcade: Golf: Tee It Up! and Schizoid
Golf: Tee It Up! and Schizoid will be available this Wednesday for 800 points each.

Note: Schizoid is the first Arcade title produced using XNA Game Studio.

---------------------

That Golf game is a poor-man's Hot Shot Golf and I'll pass on that (I play Hot Shot Golf : Out Of Bounds all the time anyway). OXM gave it a 6.5 and said it lacked any depth at all. Still, if you didn't own any Hot Shot Golf game, it might be worth 800 points to you. Hell, I spent $50 on the latest version and don't regret that. Still, what an unabashed rip off this game is. Inspiration is one thing; plagiarism is another.

Schizoid could be cool as a Geometry Wars clone with Ikaruga-inspired gameplay. Seems a little pricey at 800 points for an XNA game. We'll have to see about that...

I like the line "The Most Co-op Game Ever"

Could be fun with a friend. Looks freakin' hard though.

Decker 07-09-08 06:27 PM

OK, so did anyone try the new games yet? Folks on CAG seem to like Tee It Up a lot, but again, if I already have Hot Shots Golf for the PS3, I don't really see much need for this (at least until the DLC comes down the pike).

A rare advance announcement : 1942 Joint Strike will drop in two weeks. 7/23/08. Looks pretty fun. Can't imagine that it won't be worth a purchase at 800 points

There's lots of XBLA info at the new IGN channel devoded to Live
http://xboxlive.ign.com/

There's a look at Fable 2 Pub Games. Here's the most interesting things :
1 :You can earn actual in-game gold before the game comes out and merge your XP stats with your created charcter once the game is released.
2: The game will be 800 points, but it will be free with Fable 2 preorder
3: The games included in the XBLA title will all be embedded in the full game

Looks like they just put up the first preview of Puzzle Quest Galactrix.

Looks great, of course. Seems that the puzzle play is sorta like Hexic, but a little different and you need to make straight line matches. Of course this is a no-brainer, day-one purchase. Make it 1600 points; I don't care!
