Agreed. These music games are the one genre where I always get my value out of the games. Every release is a no brain purchase for me. I mean I still have a freaking PS2 so I can play Texas Flood or Metal Health when I have the itch.

I'll probably buy it, even though I have Rock Band already, and have invested a lot of money into DLC. But I know I'll get my money's worth out of both in the long run.

I have no desire for a full band game so I won't be buying.

I may end up buying it, especially if by that time all my Rock Band peripherals will be non-functional by then anyway.

You could always just buy the game only and play using your old guitar controller.

I don't mind paying the cash, my problem is the space that will be needed.

Yeah, but i'm assuming the guitar charts will be dumbed down ala Rock Band.

More accurate would be the words I would use. The problem with Rock Band is that the vast majority of the songs are pretty simple songs to play on guitar to begin with, thereby making the charts simple.

Yeah, that's a better way to put it than "dumbed down," but GH4 will undoubtedly suffer from this same issue. That's what happens when you choose fun band songs rather than fun guitar songs.

I think Rock Band's "simple" songs are more fun to play than GHIII's overcharted songs.

agreed 100% Rock Band is the more "real" charting, as opposed to randomly throwing notes in for the only purpose of added difficulty.

I was so disappointed with GHIII that it's going to take a hell of a lot for me to come back for GHIV, and this isn't the way to do it.

While that drum set looks really cool, and will probably be much sturdier than the RB one (Red Octane->EA any day), I have no space for two sets of instruments. So it would have to work with Rock Band in order for me to buy it, allowing me to sell my RB kit.

I'm not happy about this "new guitar input" thing. If it's a mandatory part of the game, that means that no currently existing guitar controller will work. As the developers said that these "see through notes" are part of the new input, I suspect it's a part of the gameplay. This is just another way to milk people for their money. First it was wireless controllers, which was an obvious advantage, but now Activision is just grasping at straws.

I can't fucking stand Neversoft. I've never liked any of their games and their design and poor note timing ruined GHIII. Unless they do a complete overhaul of the engine and the presentation (no more of those anemic, large headed characters and generic audience backgrounds), I won't even consider renting this game. And also, of the confirmed bands, I'm only excited about Van Halen. But knowing Neversoft, the songs will be impossible to play. Sublime and The Eagles are actually active turn-offs for me.

So right now I'm seeing a cool drum set that I won't buy unless it works with Rock Band, a selection of bands that has me turned off, and a developer I hate. Not off to a good start.

They used to be okay as a band you heard on the radio, but by now I'm completely sick of their songs. Desperado is pretty much the only famous one I can still stand.

Nope. Just the artists mentioned above, no actual tracks. The Eagles, Van Halen, Sublime & Linkin Park.

I hope they have Life In The Fast Lane from the Eagles, and something like Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love or Panama from Van Halen.

I'm personally hoping for "Everybody Wants Some," but only if I can play as a hamburger, with John Cusack watching in the background...

Can't wait for this one! All of the reliability issues with the Rock Band periferals kept me away, but the stellar Les Paul has me pumped. Plus, i should be able to use my Les Paul with the GH4 instruments for a full band on the PS3. I do think it might be a pedal for the guitar.

On a side note, is there any chance that the GH:Areosmith game could be retro fitted for drums and vocal once they are released? That might explain why the marketing for the game has been focused on all members of the band.

I think this has been mentioned. It would make sense, since they are no doubt working on both games in tandem.

Not even close. RB is easier charting, it sure as hell ain't accurate. GH is. It may have some unnecessary notes, but at least it makes sense musically.

I dig Linkin Park but when are these developers going to get more Crue, G&R, Poison, etc on board? Sublime? No thanks.

Can you tell I'm getting old?

I think the fact that "Rocks the 80s" tanked, they are a little wary of diving too deep into it again.

And who doesn't like Sublime? I can't say I own any album but I love their three big tunes, Santeria, What I Got & Wrong Way.
